Squeezebox for Kodi
#91
I just tried to run squeezelite manually. It starts and the player is visible for LMS. When i hit play, play is active for 2-4 seconds and stops. But during this "play time" there is no sound on my kodi squeezelite client. So it is the same problem as with the addon.

Ok so then there is an issue with your system aside from this add-on. it stands to reason that if you solve the issue with your system the add-on will work.

question, does the other addon xsqueeze run fine?

i am not sure anymore. "squeezebox for kodi" worked once and then after a reboot (i changed nothing) it didn't work anymore. I'm not sure if it was the same for xSqueeze. Have to check that later. Did a new clean install of libreelec and osmc. On OSMC i installed squeezelite via ssh, run it and it works. But with dropouts and for a maximum time of 3 minutes. Then i have to hit play again. With Libreelec (again after a clean install) same problem as before. No playback. Isn't it maybe a output or ALSA problem? what settings can be done besides "dtparam audio=on" in the config.txt and the "-o" output argument for default alsa card. And what can be the reason that the playback with osmc is also not working fine. I already tried the argument "-a 80" and "-a160" but it didnt help.

Tried it again on LibreElec with xSqueeze and it is working fine. No chance with manual SSH start of squeezelite and via the "Sqeezebox for Kodi" Addon. Seems like just bossanova808 can help because he knows the magic that is happening behind xSsqueeze ;-). Otherwise I have to switch to OSMC :-(

I just did another separate pi3 install, with libreelec and it of course works just fine...

Please check in your server settings that you do not have authentication required for the web interface.
It's still on my todo list to support that...

BTW: My Spotify addon for Kodi had a major upgrade and is now also interacting with squeezebox so you can use the Spotify addon on Kodi and control your squeezebox player :-)

Funny you are mentioning this right now, since I've been looking for that info yesterday and was just about to post a question. I'm very much looking forward to trying this out as soon as I can connect to my password protected server.

Thanks for your work!

@marcelveldt: I have no authentication set for my LMS and your Addon is working with OSMC so it must be something with Libreelec. Its just weird that xSqueeze is working on LibreElec.

@skarragallagher: can you tell me the configuration steps from installing libreelec to your working squeezebox for kodi addon? :-) Maybe its something really simple I forgot. If you have the same hard and software it must work when I do the same configuration steps. Are you also using HDMI as output?
Reply
Yeah both of mine weren't fresh installs but migration from openelec. Basically I upgraded to libreelec, modified the config file as mentioned previously in this thread, installed multimedia tools, add then installed this add-on.

Yes I use HDMI output as well.

@Marcel
Volume control on both windows and the pi3 needs some work I think. I can't seem to effectively control the player volume. Is there any way we can tie this to Kodi main volume

Thanks for this great plugin, which I am running on LibreELEC on an intel NUC. The NUC is connected through HDMI to my Denon receiver.

Unfortunately, I am not able to play content through the plugin. When playing a local song, nothing happens - no sound an no action on the GUI. And when playing a song from Spotify, I can see the song title in the upper part of Kodi. So I assume that it starts playing but I don't hear anything.

I can see the kodi squeezelite instance on my SB Server, and the connection to the server is established correctly.

I tried to use different output settings - without success.

Below's an excerpt from my kodi.log. From what I see, the squeezelite binary chooses the wrong audio device. Where do I change that?

Thx, G.

Great work!

Just set it up on my Windows 10 HTPC, works fine.
Can't wait to role this out to our Libreelec Weteks at home.

I did not implement volume control at all. I will take a look if I can control the Kodi volume when I'm working on this add-on again later this week.

You can change the audio device in the add-on settings

So, it's been a while but I now ran some tests to set this up for my Wetek Play 2.
But it's not going so well, even with or without auto detecting of the LMS, the plugin initially finds the LMS but then gets in some trouble saying

Code:
Exception in lmsserver ! --> Server is offline or connection error...

I've had the squeezebox plugin installed and afterwords I installed the Multimedia Tools Addon, but thats not the problem?

The test setup of the LMS runs in a VM on Hyper-V with LUbuntu, works so far with a squeezelite player on my Windows notebook and can be controlled by the iOS Squeezebox App.
LMS version is the latest nightly from that link:
http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly...hp?ver=7.9

Can't figure out how to put this into a spoiler, so here the snippets from the kodi.log

With given IP of the LMS or auto detect, puts the same lines in the log:
