v18 LibreELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Kodi 18.0)
Can those with LiveTV playback issues since #0127 please test build #0129b which reverts the last two GLES shader PRs (13416 and 13446): RPi2
Texture Cache Maintenance Utility: Preload your texture cache for optimal UI performance. Remotely manage media libraries. Purge unused artwork to free up space. Find missing media. Configurable QA check to highlight metadata issues. Aid in diagnosis of library and cache related problems.

It only fixes the intermittent black screen issue. But something is wrong with the auto refresh rate. The playback starts normally but after a couple of seconds the refresh rate switches to 25Hz (instead of 50Hz) and the video is unwatchable. Disabling the auto refresh rate fixes it.

Disregard that. The intermittent black screens (after refresh rate change) are still there, so that build didn't fix anything.

Same issues with all 1080i/50 and 1080i/60 videos, this in not only a Live TV issue. Kodi auto switches to a weird refresh rate.

Are you sure this problem starts with #0127? I'm having difficulty reproducing this myself.

I thought I had found a sample video from the Kodi Sample page (VC-1 1080i/29.970 (MKV w/DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio)) which sometimes gives me a black screen with #0129, but then it also does this with #0126 so I'm not sure if this is the same issue or not.

I'm not sure when the problem started, I haven't updated for a week or so.
I can easily reproduce the refresh rate issue by switching to any TV channel or playing an interlaced video.

Sample
The issue started for me in #127. #128 & #129 also have the issue. Reverting to #126 solves it. Versions with the issue will play OK sometimes. Once the issue happens stopping and starting the video sometimes fixes the issue but sometimes causes a reboot. #129b is OK so far

Sample

Thanks, but still can't reproduce.

I normally have OMX disabled/MMAL enabled, and the Kodi codec info (using MMAL) shows the sample as being a 25fps video (no refresh rate change despite my display being set to 60Hz).

However if I enable OMX, the codec info (now using OMX) shows 50fps for the sample, and it changes refresh rate.

But no black screen though (only during the refresh rate change which takes 2-3 few seconds).

I also just tested your sample on LibreELEC Generic (NUC6i56SYH, streaming over SMB over WiFi) and noticed that smb:// streaming is now totally shagged since PR13401 in #0123, so I may try reverting the chunk size change, or using 64KB as we do with RPi. Playing your sample in #0123 gives:
Code:

and I also get similar errors when navigating smb:// folders:

#0122 is totally fine.

Edit: Tested #0123 with a 1Gbit wired connection and getting the same "Software caused connection abort" errors, so not WiFi related.

64KB chunk size in Generic is working much better. The 1080i/50 sample seems to be playing reliably and without any problems.

@Milhouse did you try playback of interlaced video? I think issue is in deinterlacing since #0127.
Maybe my debug log of build #0128 [font]https://paste.ubuntu.com/26484243/[/font] will tell more.

no improvement with #0129b, first livetv start black screen, further starts with choppy playback and audio out of sync.
Hi Milhouse,

Started with 0127 for me, currently using 0126b with no problems. 0129b im still seeing the issue..

Regards

Bucky

Edit: with 0129b recordings seem to play fine, just live tv has forzen picture with audio playing...
Hi Milhouse and all together ;-)

I have now a new KD-55XE9005 from "it's not a trick" and just testing CEC over little bluetooth & wireless  logitech keypads.
I am missing the "Enter" Funktion (like left mouse key)

All other keys works fine, only this f***ing "Enter" ...

please do you have some suggestions for my 60. Birthday :-)

Thanks
Here is a logfile: http:/ix.io/EXn [crash log] and  http:/ix.io/EXp [log&config]

watching Youtube Music after 4 songs and after them a kodi-restart

Thanks

Does disabling (or increasing) MALLOC_MMAP_THRESHOLD_ make any difference?

Your crash looks a little similar to that reported by @thent in post #4,288.

Ps. Happy birthday! (not sure about the CEC issue)
