The Kodi FLIRC case is a very good addition and can help drop temperatures by 15-20C.
Quote:Our case is compatible with the new Pi3 B+. Just needs a new thermal pad. They should be ready next week and two pads will ship in all boxes, one for 3B+, and one for older generations.

HEVC would be nice but in the first instance I won't be bothering as I will still have 1Bs and a 2B on my network. I would like a FLIRC case but I can't find any for sale in the UK at a sensible price.

However if you aren't playing HEVC content - I'm not sure you'll need one.

A question about the FLIRC case. Where do the GPIO cables exit the case?

Sold out at time of writing, but this s the place to get them in the U.K...
I can vouch for that.... I was greedy and bought two!

I am considering a case with a built in cooling fan and heatsinks, does anyone have any experience? I'd always suggest going for the Kodi branded version - as it helps the Kodi foundation - but I can't see them available so easily in the UK.
The Flirc case has a slot in the base that allows a GPIO ribbon cable to exit, however it may be a tight squeeze with some IDC connectors.
