Solved 1080p @ 60fps playback issue when DXVA2 enabled
#1
I'm having playback issues with 1080p @ 60fps content when DXVA2 is enabled. The video appears to run at a lower speed lagging behind the audio and eventually it looks like the playback is restarting to resync.

Build I'm testing with now is 18.0-ALPHA2 Git:20180408-ff02b71bb0. The build I had previously was 18.0-ALPHA2 Git:20180327-d6910ff8d7

I am having a similar issue on my Windows 7 x64 machine running Kodi x64 KodiSetup-20180408-ff02b71b-master-x64.exe. This seems to happen only with content that is 720i or 720p - 1080p or 1080i content runs fine.

If I turn off "Sync playback to display" the issue goes away. This issue has been present since Alpha1 for me, but I have not had an issue with my initial v18 or previous versions (<v17) of Kodi.

If I pause the video, as you can see in the sample video below, the video continues to play at the wrong speed.

Any ideas?

I am still having this issue on today's build: KodiSetup-20180409-9f206f47-master-x64.exe

If I turn back on "Sync playback to display" and turn off DXVA2, all content plays as expected. If I turn on DXVA2, content that is less than 1080p has the issue in my OP above.

1. Adjust display refresh rate is preferred than Sync playback to display.
2. I see nothing wrong in your log.
3. I can't reproduce the issue with less power (than yours) HW

Was DXVA2 available in v17 of Kodi? I believe it was and I never had any audio/video sync issues....

Since October 2017 v18 builds the issue is still present and during all later nightlies. Sync playback to display works but is not the solution because the audio passthrough don't work anymore.

Yes, anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this? It is quite frustrating!

Don't use alpha build, use the last release instead.

The issue is something related to buffering. If I have DXVA2 enabled from the start of the video, I experience the playback issues in my video. If I start the video with DXVA2 disabled and then turn it on in the middle of a clip, the issue only presents itself if I pause the clip for a long time.

enabling/disabling DXVA2 during playback has effect only for next video. it's not possible to start playback with hw decoding and continue without it and vice versa

@afedchin have you been able to repro the issue I originally posted about? I believe it is unrelated to Joshdi's issue
