Android nVidia Shield TV (2015 & 2017 Models) - UPDATED: May 25, 2018

 Yes.
I try to play a 1920x1080 24Hz .mkv video.
I add this resolution in whitelist, but Kodi play the file at 1920x1080 50Hz (i set this resolution by default on my shield).

Probably the file is at 23,997 Hz (and not 24Hz), i must match 1920x1080 23,997 in Kodi whitelist? I thinks i don't see this resolution in the list.

No problem with SPMC. The same file start regulary at 1920x1080 24Hz.

How are you checking the file is playing at 50hz?

I add 23,98 in the whitelist and now is all OK.

But now i have the same problem with 1280x720 50hz files.

If i set the Shield at 3840x2160 59,94 or 50/60 Hz i can't add any 1280x720 resolutions in Kodi whitelist
If i set the Shield at 1920x1080 59,94 or 50/60 Hz i can add 1280x720 resolutions in Kodi whitelist but the file are played always at 1920x180
Is correct?

I got the BT version of this remote (finally) in today. Was so excited that I would have a remote to finally include volume control.

Paired it w/ the Shield, worked great....for a little while them unpaired. Reset it again, dropped again.

I'm not sure you are aware but it is strongly suspected the Shield has 2.4GHz Bluetooth RF interference issues very likely caused by its USB3 port.

Intel have even written a paper about it:
https://www.intel.com.au/content/www/au/...paper.html

Here is a few more links for you to read:
https://www.bluetoothandusb3.com/the-explanation
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic...t/5186567/

And I suspect this is the reason why NVIDIA have not been able to fix such Bluetooth controller issues since the release of the 2017 Shield, a Hardware redesign to the Shield to move the WiFi / BT antenna further away from RF interference sources would be needed.

Another example is the Apple TV 4K's Bluetooth remote, by comparison you see virtually No users reporting remote connectivity and RF interference issues. That device does not even have a USB port. The only time I have seen Bluetooth issues is when a 2.4GHz WiFi antenna was place right next to the ATV 4K.

Remember as well, modern Bluetooth is Bluetooth Low Energy, so you are dealing with low powdered 2.4GHz remote devices and RF transmissions. That are all designed to save battery power and you want to save as much power as possible if using small Coin Cell Batteries.

It's also the reason why, if you bought the $10 USB Mini (WiFi) Dongle Wireless remote, it is very likely you would have had No issues at all. 2.4GHz WiFi uses comparatively more powerful RF transmissions, and such devices use bigger AAA or AA size batteries that are much more powerful.

Another example, the MINIX A2 lite keyboard remote with it's Mini USB WiFi dongle. 2 AA batteries in that lasts approx. 9 month or more with daily usage. It has very good, battery saving - wake from sleep responsiveness, better than it's successor the MINIX A3 lite.

 Same here.

I have bought two, got a partial refund of €10, as it is too expensive to return them...

Looks like someone has found a "hardware fix" for the remote issue:

One my of favourite remotes to use with the Shield has been the Fire TV Stick remote.

Yes, it lacks voice control and volume buttons, however it's otherwise a fantastic bluetooth remote that I find works even better than the Shield remote.
It instantly wakes up every time I go to use it, I never have any issues with lag and the battery lasts a very long time (runs on 2 AAAs)

They are also extremely affordable. I bought 2 off ebay for $6.50 USD each shipped.

Also if you root the Shield, you can directly modify the Fire TV stick remote key layout file.

The remote comes with  Rewind and Fast Forward buttons. Since I find these redundant (I can use DPAD_LEFT and DPAD_RIGHT to seek), I modified the key layout files so that instead of rewind and fast forward, it now performs the VOLUME_DOWN and VOLUME_UP commands, giving me volume control again on the remote.

Seriously, if you're looking for a cheap remote that actually works well, the fire tv stick one is awesome. $6.50 USD on ebay!

Does anybody have issues with Live TV on Kodi 18 and lower resolutions?

ie 720 x 576 @ 50hz

I can't white-list these (they don't show up) and when I play the Live TV Stream, it freezes, I then click stop, and the try and select the channel again.  After 2 or 3 attempts, it'll load and stay stable.

Running the latest nightly and NextPVR Backend.

Cheers!

Sadly the big feature is still missing. A power button.

Drives me mad having to click 3 or 4  to put the shield into standby. Totally intuitive to my family members as well Sad

EDIT: found a nice little trick for this on the 2017 ONLY. Just click home and back quickly to go into standby.
