v18 LibreELEC Testbuilds for x86_64 (Kodi 18.0)
I am currently using the new 4.19 rc5 build on my Ryzen 2400G and notice when watching live tv on either HDHomerun or HDHomerun Simple that the video quality is not as crisp as it was previously. (It has been a few months since I tested last, so not sure when this started) Not sure if anyone else has come across this issue. I do not notice it on 17.6 libreelec builds on my other pc or in Windows on the same pc.  I am using the older HDHomerun that uses Mpeg-2.  Would there be any benefit to using the newer version that converts to H.264?

Can you describe the steps to reproduce - does it require a specific skin or stock Estuary? Can't say I've noticed it myself with stock Estuary. I've watched letter boxed movies in full screen mode without a problem, anything that was on an nvidia box so maybe this is NUC/Intel specific...

Edit: Tested #0926 on Skylake NUC with stock Estuary and haven't been able to see the problem myself... detailed steps to reproduce might help!
Correct. I use it in an Home Built HTPC with a I3 Coffe Lake and I have the artefacts since #814.
When I put an NViDIA gt1030 in the HTPC it works fine but no 4k/10 bits.
By the way the problem is common to all the skins I tested, Estuary included.
JM

Either I'm not testing correctly, or a Skylake i5 NUC isn't affected either.

Can someone provide step-by-step instructions so there's no mistake how this can be reproduced?

It is not skin related. I tried Estaury, Mq8 and MQ6 mod skins. See a Video in Full Screen mode and then activate and deactivate the menu. You will see a rest of it at the bottom of the screen. You can also do this with info screen. Same result. You get artifacts on the screen. Not in the picture though, but on top and botttom of the screen.

Hello,

I just noticed that with the ALPHA version, I don't have 60Hz in 2160p. Same thing on build #0927.  If I put an Odroid C2 instead of my HTPC, the 60Hz works well.
On my HTPC, the 60Hz works for 1080p and below.

About my hardware :
  • MB : ASRock FM2A88M Extreme4+
  • CPU : AMD A6-6400K (3.9 GHz) Black Edition
  • GPU : AREZ Radeon RX550 (2GB)
  • TV : TV Panasonic TX-55CX700E UHD
  • HDMI : KabelDirekt HDMI 4K (2.0)
Thank you for your work and help.

That's not a _complete_ debug log (it looks like debug logging was enabled 20 minutes after any useful debug information had been processed, and therefore not output). And for some reason you've posted a crash log.

Can you enable debug logging, reboot, and _then_ upload your Kodi log - use the built-in log upload facility (in Settings > LibreELEC > System > Submit Log) and paste the URL.

As of my testbuild from 03 september and later (last used before that was 03th of august) it seems the picture quality has improved, but i keep seeing the kodi menu behind the picture on the bottom part of the screen. Especially when using PVR and showing the cannellist, after selecting the channel i can see a line of about 10 pixels high with channel menu, on the black borders of the image. If i stop receiving the channel and start it again (play button) the bottom part is completely black as expected.

Regards,

Frans
Using one of the latest (#0926) my emby plugin stopped working. I reverted to #0813 and all is well now, no bottom/top menu overlay and emby working again.

According to xrandr, and also the decoded edid data, your Panasonic TV isn't capable of 4K@60Hz. Presumably this is an error in the edid, or the way it is being collected/interpreted. Maybe try a different edid, or collect the edid when using the Odroid and see if it's any different?

This is the decoded edid information (using edid-decode): http://ix.io/1nXS

The only reference to 4K@60Hz is:
text:

Extended tag: YCbCr 4:2:0 video data block
VIC 97 3840x2160@60Hz 16:9 HorFreq: 135000 Hz Clock: 297.000 MHz
VIC 96 3840x2160@50Hz 16:9 HorFreq: 112500 Hz Clock: 297.000 MHz
VIC 102 4096x2160@60Hz 256:135 HorFreq: 135000 Hz Clock: 297.000 MHz
VIC 101 4096x2160@50Hz 256:135 HorFreq: 112500 Hz Clock: 297.000 MHz
which isn't being returned by xrandr, maybe because xrandr is configured to use RGB?
