RetroPlayer branch of Kodi
We'll most likely ship with 2048 (single player) and a bomberman clone (8-player) so at least a bit of non-emulation gaming will be possibly

Can we suggest other non-emulator games that you could potential port and include? Like example:

OpenBOR (open source continuation of Beats of Rage) - has several free and open source Beat 'em up games refered to s "modules"

Cannonball (clone of OutRun)

xrick (clone of Rick Dangerous)

Generally cores have to be ported to libretro first.

XRick has a libretro port AFAIK:

Cannonball has a libretro core too:

I'd love to see libretro cores for...

We need help porting cores. It's just a matter of adding some XML and adjusting some build commands. I wrote a (slightly outdated) guide here: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=224328 . If you get stuck let me know and I'll jump in.

Also @fetzerch has a Python script for automating updates once the add-ons are created: https://github.com/fetzerch/kodi-game-scripting

Hi guys

Is the n64 core already working I can't find it. And is there a way to scrape artwork?

n64 is not there yet.
also a game db is not yet implemented, but there are addons like IARL.

Is Dreamcast working? I try to launch and CDI and it sits a while, then Kodi crashes.

Do I need to install a BIOS or anything for reicast? (and if so where do I put it - I've found a bios)

RetroPlayer does not yet support OpenGL.
For Dreamcast OpenGL is needed.

Hello ,

I'm sorry for my English, I'm French and I'm using Google trad.

I installed retroplayer on kodi but every time I run a game it tells me that there is no compatible emulator. I have set in the settings of the addon "emulator launcher: kodi retroplayer".
Are emulators built-in or do I have to download them on the Play Store one by one? Are there any preferences for emulators?

If I use libreelec on a raspberry PI, how do i download emulators?

Thank you in advance for your replies

Can you post a debug log? I can usually find the answer in the log.

In the log I see:

RetroPlayer[PLAYER]: No compatible game client selected, aborting playback

You didn't post a full log, so I have to guess. I think you're using Android. I don't think you're using my test build, which includes emulators. I don't think you have any emulators installed. A full log would tell me all of this.

The official Kodi build doesn't contain emulators. They will have to come from our add-on repository, however we're still working on uploading these so they're not available yet. Your best solution is to use my test builds for now.

LibreELEC has emulators in their repositories, so Raspberry Pi should work.
