Then check point 3.1.5 "Troubleshooting" (pages 20-22). We made it for server with three USB tuners and previous version of Tvheadend but it is quite complete and can help you. You can have too weak signal in antenna cable, problems with Wi-Fi performance etc.

Thanks will take a look. I don't get this issue when I use my Intel NUC with tvheadend as the source so it will be interesting to do some more tests I think.

Green bits on the screen usual indicate corrupt data streams that cannot be decoded with ffmpeg I believe.

SD and HD? SD uses MPEG2 whereas HD uses H264 on Freeview in the UK.

Could it be that the signal is too strong for the pi?

Buy an Ariel attenuator for about £10 or so and decrease the signal, I had this issue too on tvheadend and bought one of those and did the trick.

So are you saying the NUC has no green glitches when watching the stream from the Raspberry Pi TV Headend, but the Shield TV does? If so then it sounds as if the issue is with the Shield TV?

Can you be a bit more specific about what you've tested so far?

Have you tried watching streams from your Raspberry Pi TV Headend server on anything other than the Shield TV (i.e. Kodi on a PC, VLC on a PC etc.) - and does that glitch in the same way?

Have you looked at the TV Headend web interface to see if your tuner is error-free ? If you go to STATUS->STREAM or STATUS->SUBCRIPTIONS whilst you are streaming video you will see if there are any errors in the received video there. You may need to enable Expert view in TV Headend - though my Pi install defaulted to it.

No the other way round, I have an NUC TVheadend setup with a USB tuner as source, no issues when streaming from that to my Nvidia Shield.

Using the raspberry pi I have green glitch every couple of minutes when streaming to the Nvidia Shield.

OK - if you compare the Stream status reports in the NUC TV Headend and Rasperry Pi TV Headend web interfaces when watching the same channels on the Shield TV - how do they compare.

Do you see Uncorrected Blocks, Transport Errors or Continuity errors in either interface. Mine sit at 0,0,0 for PSB1 and PSB3 pretty much continuously on my TV uHAT on my Pi - so no errors. I see no glitching.

Do you see errors reported on the Pi (when you see glitches) but not the NUC? That suggests a performance discrepancy between the set-up on the Pi and the set-up on the NUC.

What versions of TV Headend are you running on the Pi and the NUC?

Running Build: 4.2.4-dmo1~bpo9+1~rpt1 (2018-09-03T09:06:53+0000) on the Raspberry Pi server.

Just tested on my 2nd client downstairs and I get the same green glitches so it doesn't look client specific, although that is running android as well.

EDIT: Hmm just tried the stream with VLC on a windows machine and no apparent issues. Strange...

How do I check for any errors on the stream?

I tried looking at VLC stats but no dropped packets that I saw in 5min test but maybe thats something different.

Followed a stream for about 5mins and got 12 "continuity errors". Any ideas if that's normally to be expected or if that could be the cause of the green blocks?
