Then: I don't see the option to choose "PCM 48kHz" in Kodi or in the Shield. Where is it please? Maybe is it automatic in Kodi?
Apologies - I'm not near my Shield TV until Sunday. I use Kodi on a lot of different platforms (Windows, Android and Linux) and it may be that the Android builds don't have the same options for resampling.

Don't worry, I understand you! Anyway Kodi is working strangely with my devices. Today I wanted to watch a UHD video and I saw a cold and purple dominant on my video. I closed Kodi and opened it again and everything was ok. Now I have only to solve my little problem with the audio. The Kodi audio doesn't fascinate me at all.

Also in Kodi System Sound settings make sure you have not got Optimised and instead have Best Match for audio sampling rate (or whatever that setting is called if it’s there in Android)

On some Kodi installs the default behaviour cane be to transcode 48k to 44.1k. Also if you are only playing stereo, I’d configure Kodi for 2.0 output.

Yep agreed encode PCM audio @ 48kHz max.
The Android audio mixer outputs all (non passthrough) audio at 48kHz anyway. It's a Android audio limitation (click)

You can play around with...

Kodi Settings > System > Audio > Output config > Fixed
Limit Sampling Rate >

But PCM will still be resampled and output at 48kHz anyway ... so use

Set Kodi Settings > System > Audio > Output config > Best Match.

The Linux OS based Kodi systems - OSMC, LibreELEC, CoreELEC Kodi have no such audio output limitations.
It's the Android OS that is the limitation on the Shield, not Kodi.

Hi, today I made some tests with Nvidia Shield TV. I make only UHD videos with my GH5 5 (UHD, Pal system, 50p and 8bit) and edited with Edius 9. I'd like to ask some questions please, I have confused ideas:
1) I configured Shield (in the Menu) with rec709 and chose the options 3840x2160. My videos look good but with cold colours compared to the original video. Then I try to use "YUV 420 - 10bit - Rec2020" and I got wonderful colours. They are warmer and chromatically perfect.
Why do you get better video with that option? But yet I exported the UHD project from Edius 9 timeline with "rec709".
I attch 3 pics so that you can see my config in Shield:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ap6o07wkhy9dim...s.jpg?dl=0
https://www.dropbox.com/s/2xlk598hfibg8i...s.jpg?dl=0

Could you tell me if it is configured well or do I have to change something?
Out of curiosity: Why do I see "4K 59.940 Hz (recommended)"?
I'm relatively inexperienced but I think Pal System is 50 Hz, do I make an error? Am I saying stupid?
Thanks to clear my ideas.

Hi, I used MediaInfo and I noticed the Audio exported from Ediud 9 timeline is not PCM 48kHz. I attach the MediaIndo of UHD video:

I'm afraid without knowing what your workflow is, how you are colour correcting or grading your footage (if you are) and what you are viewing it on, what format you are shooting your footage in etc. it's difficult to tell.

It sounds to me as if there may be a difference between an 'accurate' rendition of your edited footage vs something you think looks 'nicer'?

The only difference between the Shield TV running 709 output and running 2020 output should be that your 709 video is mapped to 2020 and output in 2020 in the latter case. The conversion from 709 to 2020 isn't perfect but is pretty good.

It may also be your TV converts 709 to its native colourimetry and 2020 to is native colourimetry in different ways? I don't know your TV.

The recommended suggestion is either what your TV signals is recommended over the HDMI EDID connection (some TVs will suggest 59.94Hz as it is the higher refresh rate) or the nVidia Shield TV takes the same decision. If you are gaming then 59.94Hz would be preferred over 50Hz. If you are in the US, Canada etc. then 59.94Hz would be a better option.

However in Europe, our video is 50Hz, so 50Hz output would always be the right selection for watching 50Hz video.

Yep - that's 384k AAC at 48kHz.  That's got a light amount of compression - but for the videos you are making I wouldn't use any audio compression.  You don't have a limited bitrate and are working in stereo - so for high quality export I'd chose PCM over AAC.

I still don't know if my Shield is faulty or not. I have these problems:

1) Every 10 times that I turn on Shield, 6 times I get a black screen on the TV with a writing: the signal doesn't pass, change HDMI position. Every time I have to turn off the TV and turn on it again and then the signal goes and it's all OK.
I'm still in time to get it out and buy a new one.

2) I don'tt know if it is a Kodi problem or Shield problem. Anyway I have configured perfectly Shield with rec709: when I open Kodi to watch a video, it once gives nicecolors and perfect exposure. But sometimes I get the overexposed video back.
Does this ever happen to you?
I'm going crazy with Shield.

Android media players that can play copy protected video content from Netflix, Prime Video etc do a HDMI and HDCP handshake upon boot up.

If that HDCP handshake fails you end up with a black screen to prevent video from those Apps just mention from being copied.
It's the same with all modern, Netflix capable media players.
Welcome to the world of HDCP.

Either your display needs a Firmware update or you need Premium Certified HDMI 2.0b - 18Gbps capable cables. You may simply just have to turn the TV On seperately before the Shield.
The decent cables include the High Speed - Amazon Basics, Premium Certified Monoprice and Belkin brands. Cable lengths should not be excessively long either.

Media players running OSMC / LibreELEC / CoreELEC Kodi do not have HDCP to worry about. They are Kodi optimised devices.

Monday I will get a new certified HDMI cable, then I will tell you. Thanks.

EDIT: I solved my many problems. It was the cable. I bought a new HDMI cable and now the Shield works fine.
My new HDMI: https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B07GVVJ...UTF8&psc=1
But one thing Shield doesn'tt satisfy me: the remote control sometimes doesn't work fine. When I need to move on while I'm watching a video, I need sometimes to press the remote control for 2-3 times. The remote control is sometimes numb.
Even you have this problem?
