Solved SONY AF9 w/ AndroidTV Oreo - Installation via Play Store fails with Error Code -506

If that doesn't work, I believe Sony the alleged error, otherwise, it was intentional...
I think you mean "if the second doesn't work".
We already established that the match is ".ko" , and not "ko"

Jep - known. Sony wants to fix it, at least they said so on torrenfreak.com and on heise. Just remind them via twitter.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Then that was certainly not Sony's intention.

So? Does that change anything for average joe?

Well, I would at least apologize for the accusations to Sony that it was intentional. ;-) Like I said, I would do that. That bugs creep in is normal everywhere and can happen.

You have some stocks in Sony or what?
Regardless why should we apologise? They fucked up their firmware and caused a shitload of issues.
Like hell we will apologise.

Regardless the issue is solved topic is closed. End of story (when they at least push a fix out)

If you also have a Sony AF9, you probably have to wait for a firmware update from Sony to fix their 'creative way' of handling kernel object files.
Or you find a compiled version of Kodi 18 final that has a different package ID from the official Kodi APK file.

For those interested, on Sonys' XD/XE/XF/AF8 you can easily install Kodi 18 after the last Android 8 update (Oreo Firmware V6.5830). So the bug only affects AF9 models.

Thanks
