audio sync
#1
I am running with ubuntu 18.04.2

I download and play real time with bill mayer.  I have found that show consistently has out of sync audeo.  This is the only tv show I watch with this problem.  I can fix it by doing a handbreak conversion.  The audio itself is quite strange in that I swear the synchronization loss is ongoing.  I have watched the sync literally change as I watch the show and, I think, it literally, gets into sync and then proceeds to go out of sync.  I have tried to sync with kodi, I can get it pretty close but then it goes badly out of sync again.  I believe they have done something clever with the sound of the file (usually mp4) and, again, a handbreak conversion will fix this problem.

My question is simple.  Is this a known problem.  I also wonder if I am running with a wrong codec although that is unlikely as the problem seems to be with 1 specific show.

Thank you.............

Log:  https://pastebin.com/7fXWuJuf

I just tested another file where the sound was messed up.  I have included my logfile this time as I ran the file in lc vlc and the sound was in sync but out of sync in kodi.  Should have sent my log before - apologies.   This is an mkv file and it only happens to this show and one other - works on all others.  I must have kodi set wrong.

Thank you.............

The forum moderators have determined that Banned_addons (wiki) are present on your system. To receive assistance here, these banned items must be removed. If a clean log is not submitted within 3 days, then the relevant post(s) will be removed after this time.

First, it would be nice if I knew what addons you were referencing.  I do not stream, for instance (speed not good enough)
So, I just started deleting stuff - hope I got whatever you were talking about.
LOg: https://pastebin.com/cBg0frZL   (should be debug log)

That's kit - let  me know...........

You've still got all sorts of orphaned banned addon (wiki) scripts running in there. If you upload to paste.kodi.tv it's easier as such items are highlighted in orange/brown.

But from a quick look over there is:

2019-04-05 08:33:14.141 T:140170868806592 NOTICE: ADDON: script.exodus.artwork v1.0.8 installed

2019-04-05 08:33:14.142 T:140170868806592 NOTICE: ADDON: script.video.F4mProxy v2.8.7 installed

There are one or two others that are often associated with such add-ons (the resolver scripts) but which possibly do have legitimate usage so can be overlooked.

You will probably have to remove those scripts manually by going to the ~/.kodi/addons folder (without Kodi running) in your file manager of choice and manually removing the folders relating to each script.

I tried to paste to paste.kodi.tv    There is no help, menu, nuthin (under "hastebin" 2 icons, new, and save).  Just a big black screen.  So, I pasted my logfile into that big black screen and saved it.  Its still laying there.  Just black and white text.  Therefore my logifle, this time, is at: https://pastebin.com/Smp2ssGm as there is, apparently, no way to do anything at paste.kodi.tv
I shut down my link to hastebin.  I have no idea about that whole deal.  I searched for 'paste' in a variety of places, on your site to no avail.
Let me know if you need any more stuff removed.

The controls are just beneath the hastebin logo in the top-right.

Just copy your log into the clipboard, then paste it into the paste.kodi.tv window and click the save icon in the top-right controls. When you do the url of the page will change and you'll get a link that you can post here. Either that or just use the log uploader add-on in the official repo.

I copied your log from pastebin to there as an example:

https://paste.kodi.tv/jijuxazobo.kodi

You've still got 2019-04-05 16:30:30.382 T:139885353309120 NOTICE: ADDON: repository.universalscrapers v1.0.0 installed in place as a banned repo, which needs to be removed.

It would also be easier if you turned off auto-updating of the library temporarily as there's rather a lot of it in the log hiding everything else. Just turn on debug logging, reboot your system and try to reproduce the issue as simply as possible so we can have a clear log that focusses on the problem.

Hopefully I have done the paste thing right.
Here is the link:  https://paste.kodi.tv/ujenagoyaf.kodi
Link to the list in .kodi/addons: https://paste.kodi.tv/moyeluyuco.kodi

the universal thing is interesting.  I have 2 universal addon entries - scraper and art stuff.  Both are from olympia, temp kodi and cannot be deleted.

Those are the built in scrapers and are fine and legitimate.

The two shouldn't be confused, although that may in part be why the dodgy one was so named...

The list looks ok now.

so, about my original question, ie, the picture is lagging the sound by several seconds.  I have also seen it get into sync and then go back again.  Its very strange.  My current solution is to use handbreak to convert the file to a different - mkv to m4v.  The interesting thing is that the same mkv file, played in vlc, remains in sync which tells me that kodi couldn't play the file right.

I am currently running handbreak against bill maher.  It tells  me the file is aac (avcodec) whatever that means (if I read the handbreak data right).

Don't highjack other people's threads. Read in HW Forum how to fix it.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
