v17 Artwork Beef - automatically add extended artwork
As far as I know, scraping of movies and tv shows uses a fast hash to determine if folder contents have changed. When Artwork Beef downloads new art to folders I imagine that hash changes. Does AB also calculate the new hash after the download is complete to help Kodi avoid a rescan of those folders since video items are unchanged? This would be especially important if AB is set to periodically download artwork in the background.

Artwork Beef generally doesn't support downloading artwork to an alternate folder.
Just to be clear:

* You don't support alternate paths for storing images (I'm sure this will be lots of fun when I'm not the user who has multiple media files with the same name in a flat folder).
* You don't support the official kodi add on (artwork organizer), despite serious performance benefits when using network paths.
* You think proper file organisation is a bad idea (slap it in the same directory as the file location right?).
* Despite my concerns about files being written to incorrect locations, you think deleting everything and starting again is a viable solution (I think I've been quite clear about the problem and why this didn't previous occur - so I'm a little upset your solution is to "clean up all of that" which obviously doesn't address the actual problem).
* You want a kodi debug log to demonstrate a problem relating to simultaneous r/w over a network path (I assume this is what you mean by "read the bottom of the first post" again I think I've been very clear about this; there's no problem with the python or the OS; this relates to latency problems which would not be detected in a log - nor do I see how attaching a log would offer any resolution to the actual problem, which you aren't able to address in code without resolving the first two bullet points).

Looks like I'm forking. Best of luck with your code.

Question regarding folder structure and artwork beef:

i want to change my library paths from
Music/Artist/Year - Album
to
Music/BEGINNING_NUMBER_OR_LETTER_OF_ARTIST/Artist/Year - Album

After i've done that, will AB automatically download art into the folder structure as is
or will it use the more common Music/Artist/-structure to dump files?
KODI Player: Nvidia Shield TV Pro [2019] w/ Wolf Launcher + Synology DS418 | Receiver: Marantz SR6013 | TV: LG 55SJ800V | Toaster: Severin AT 2515

How to:
Create custom video nodes like Documentaries, Concerts, Kids etc

Music artwork is treated differently than video artwork. All artwork is downloaded to the "artist_information" folder, see music settings. If you want to change the artwork next to your music files, you'll need to use Kodi's export function.

I set the artist information folder to thew same folder where the music is stored.
Right now, there are 5400 folders - that's why i want to change the folder structure.

So... if art is stored to just a specific folder location my problem will persist ( ._.)

Not trying to be argumentative, I'm just responding to what you wrote.  I don't see why having 5400 folders is a problem?

agree, if you want to have your stuff local, then you have to live with it!

No, Artwork Beef doesn't recalculate a new hash. Why is this particularly important, though? AB running periodically will generally only change the content of a few folders at a time so won't have much of an impact.

You are quite confused. "userdata/Thumbnails" is Kodi's internal artwork cache, and it should not be futzed with. If you really were mounting "userdata/Thumbnails" from an NFS share then you are introducing network paths where there should not be. Also see the wiki page on Kodi best practices for file organization.

I need more and detailed information to help you in general. Your faulty assumptions are not helpful, while a debug log is the single most helpful thing you could have given me.

I'd suggest against doing that. The information folder is a separate option to satisfy the general motivation of your request: you want to store media files in different layout. The artist information folder is a consistent place for Kodi to find additional artwork and info about an artist without regard to media file layout.

I'm sure you can answer the why yourself. It was meant as a suggestion for further refinement, it's up to you if you want to follow that up.

FWIW, rmrector, it looks like you get a lot of hassle for this add-on.  Just had to register and let you know I've been a big fan since I discovered it while using Krypton.  Even in Leia, it continues to offer options that aren't available in stock Kodi, and I sincerely appreciate it.  Please continue to keep up the good work.  Artists are never appreciated in their own time.

This is a _great_ addon, I switched over (with many others I'm sure) after Artwork Downloader stopped working with V18.

Now artwork is working much better than ever before for me - I'm seeing way more pretty things, the weird issues with old cached images are gone (as I presume AB is poking its new downloads into the cache as per the settings) - and with a few tweaks to my personal Confluence versions, I have got clearart/logos working very well in that.  With it running in the background it just keeps all the artwork nicely up to date and organised.

It's great work from @rmrector - many thanks!
Addons I wrote &/or maintain:
OzWeather (Australian BOM weather) | Check Previous Episode | Playback Resumer | Unpause Jumpback | XSqueezeDisplay | (Legacy - XSqueeze & XZen)
Sorry, no help w/out a *full debug log*.

I have a question . I dont have a Big vidéo library
I use Netflix , Amazon and other streaming video addons . Is there a way to make AB grab from this addons ?
Thanks again

Thanks, I tried all the steps but it didn't work. Still getting the same errors.
I reinstalled and deleted the thumbnail folder and the db file. I also uninstalled 32-bit python and installed the 64-bit version.
