Solved Kodi Leia 18.4 not updating Movies (Only updating TV Shows)
#1
Hi all,
I'm using Kodi 18.4 Leia with Aeon Nox Silvo skin 7.0.7 on Xiaomi Mi Box S (Mi Box 4) (Android TV 8.1.0) and since few days it is not updating my Movies anymore.

When I launch "Update Library", it immediately skips to "Scanning new content: Updating TV Shows with TVDB". I can't see any "Scanning new content: Updating Movies with The Movie Database" on the notification bar.

My files are on a Western Digital MyCloud EX2 NAS which is perfectly connected and reachable. I can see the new movies using the Files view.
I verified my Video sources are correct.
I'm using The Movie DB as source of information for Movies and The TVDB for TV Shows.
The Movie Database Scaper Library add-on is updated at 3.1.10, the other two The Movie Database add-ons (both named "The Movie Database") are 5.1.8 and 3.1.3, while The TVDB is 3.0.16. Most of them got updated few days ago, which could be the root cause of the issue.

Here you can find my Kodi Debug Log: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/6wq9P8ym9T/

I see there's this log:
Quote:2019-09-15 14:53:28.026 T:18549   DEBUG: VideoInfoScanner: Skipping dir 'smb://MYCLOUDEX2ULTRA/Kodi/Film/' due to no change (fasthash)
That's my Movies folder on the NAS but it's not actually true there are no changes, I've just added 7 new files (and I can see them in Files view).

Could you please help me?
Thank you in advance,
Maurizio

An update: I've removed the 7 new movies (I've re-copied them back to my PC), rebooted my NAS, re-copied the new movies to my NAS.

Kodi is now actually scanning the new files, it seems to identify them correctly since I can see "Scanning new content: Updating Movies with The Movie Database" and then all the 7 titles of the new movies, but it is still not adding them to my library.
It managed to add only one, which wasn't adding before, I really don't know why, it has nothing different from other movies.

It is the same behaviour Kodi has when you give it a movie with a wrong name, a name that doesn't match with The Movie Database list, but I've double checked and my file names match and are correct as usual.

Here you can see the new Debug Log: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/rb9cHCXNzj/

I've tried to add one of the movies Kodi is not recognizing, it started updating Movies Library, he detected the new file "Atmosfera Zero (1981).mkv" but then it skipped it.
On the logs I see:

But "Atmosfera Zero (1981)" is the right title, according to The Movie Database: https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/10540-o...uage=it-IT

Any advices?
Thanks!

I've also tried this: https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/17590-...-for-item/
But it didn't help, my "Settings > Media > (enable advanced mode) > Videos > Use video tags" is already disabled.

Thank you Karellen!

I've updated "metadata.themoviedb.org" to 5.1.9 using the add-on browser this way:
1. Wait up to 24 hours for your repository and add-on to update automatically, assuming you have not disabled these settings
2. Go to Settings > Add-ons and force a repository update from the left sideblade menu by selecting Check for updates. You may need to wait until the update reaches the servers in your part of the world.
3. Go to Settings > Add-ons > My add-ons > Information providers > Movie information > The Movie Database > Select it and check it's "metadata.themoviedb.org" > Open the left sideblade and select Update > Install 5.1.9.

Later I've removed and then re-added the movies and Kodi has been able to find 5 of them but it's still having issues with these two:
Dreed Il Giudice Dell'Apocalisse (2012).mkv > https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/49049-d...uage=it-IT
Godzilla 02 King Of The Monsters (2019).mkv > https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/373571-...uage=it-IT

I hope this could be usefull to @olympia for debugging.

I'll try to force the scraper using NFO files or trying switching to the "Python TheMovieDB Scraper for Movies" you were suggesting.

I've also just tried installing it manually as you were suggesting:
Quote:1. Wait upto 24 hours for your repository and add-on to update automatically, assuming you have not disabled these settings
2. Go to Settings > Add-ons and force a repository update from the left sideblade menu by selecting Check for updates. You may need to wait until the update reaches the servers in your part of the world.
3. Download and install from zip from the following links...
Gotham - http://mirrors.kodi.tv/addons/gotham/met...viedb.org/
Krypton - http://mirrors.kodi.tv/addons/krypton/me...viedb.org/

But it doesn't change anything, the add-on it's still unable to find information for those two movies.

Please let me know if you think some Debug Logs could help Olympia solve this issue.

@sberla54

I will move your post to the Metadata scrapers forum where it is more likely to be seen by olympia.

@Karellen you used to "ring" me on real issues Smile

@sberla54 how about fixing up your file names? Dreed instead of Dredd and Godzilla 02 instead of Godzilla 2... Really? Does one need to be a scraper developer to debug this? ...easy to blame the scraper. These things make me remember why I stopped providing support. @Karellen all respect to you taking all these for long! Smile ...However you seem to show some burn out signal too ;P

Olympia, I didn't mean to disrespect you amazing work, there's no need to be rude. I've also tried to provide as more information and details as possible, to help whoever else could me in my same situation.

I'm sorry I didn't see the "Dreed" typo but I'm totally sure I've often used two digits numbers on my filenames and the scraper always got them correctly, like "Creed 02 (2018).mkv", for example.
I'll correct my file names.

Thank you for updating your add-on so quickly and fixing the bug.

Scraper results are based on API results from themoviedb.org API. If it doesn't find movies with 02, then the scraper cannot overcome on this on it's own. I actually don't think this worked in the past or if it was, then there was a change. Or someone added Creed 02 as an alternative movie name on tmdb. There are no miracles.

We all become rude over the years taking all the shit and it seems like mostly unavoidable.
When you put a lot of time and energy into it and there are signs that users don't do their homework (especially in easy cases like this one), this happens even with the bests...

That's why most of us has stopped providing support after a few years or even disappear from the project in worst case.

Makes sense, of course!
I'll double check as soon as I come back home, maybe Kodi never really added those two digits movies and I never noticed Smile

I understand you, really.
Kodi is an incredible software but I get that, being used by such a huge user base, mostly with no IT technical skills, you probably receive nonsense complaints way too often.

I would like to take this chance to thank you all Kodi developers for your efforts and your time spent on this project!
I really love Kodi, is one of the best Open Source software I've ever used and it allowed me to create and organize my movie collection in a way I never thought it would have been possible!

Have a nice day!
Maurizio

Many thanks for your word Maurizio. This means a lot to all of us. Apologies for the rude moment. I hope you didn't take it personal.

I can also confirm that renaming the files "Godzilla 2 King Of The Monsters (2019).mkv" and "Dredd Il Giudice Dell'Apocalisse (2012).mkv", The Movie Database "metadata.themoviedb.org" version 5.1.9 correctly recognized them!
I'm officially an idiot  Blush

Thank you again!
