Linux keyboard stops working
#1
Have tested Kodi 18.6 on Linux mint 19.3 & Ubuntu and when I run Kodi the keyboard works for maybe 30 seconds or so then stops, I've tried several usb keyboards on desktop pc and also keyboard built into laptop too, mouse continues to work fine tho. As far as I can tell this is happening when something is playing, I first noticed it when the volume controls for Kodi refused to operate after a few uses. I am posting this on Linux mint forums too.

Either you have a delayed hardware failure on your machine, or Linux Mint has a weird problem. Or something else you installed on your Mint setup...

I haven't seen such a keyboard problem at all in all my 9-10 years of XBMC/Kodi/LibreELEC usage.

It does the same thing on a desktop pc and on an Acer laptop, tested with a rii keyboard and of course the laptops built in one too. Also now found plain Ubuntu suffers from same issue.

And I agree I've never noticed this issue before, don't know if can add videos of it happening on here but if I can I will do that today.

Thanks for your time in replying.

Not here it doesn't.  Have you tried checking /var/log/syslog and/or dmesg to see if there is anything relating to usb/keyboard disconnects in there ?   Might also be worth putting Kodi into debug (settings -> system -> logging -> enable debug logging) and reproducing the issue.  No idea if it will show anything useful, but I highly doubt it's Kodi itself.

Where did you install it from, the official ppa ?
Learning Linux the hard way !!

From the official ppa, tested in elementary os 5.1 and works perfectly on that, I'll look into the logs that you suggest tho, thanks

Found out part of problem, for the laptop at least, its own in built keyboard works perfectly until I plug in another keyboard, so far a rii wireless or a flirc Device has been tried, these both work for about 30 seconds or so then stop responding, this also then leaves the inbuilt keyboard not working either but mouse is fine
