Am I right that this supports only win10? cause on my win8.1 there is no 'Settings > Player > Use HDR display capabilities' but my tv are supports hdr and madvr work fine.

In last 3.5.0 release i have an error when update "inputstream adaptive" addon, it is say that addon kodi.binary.instance.inputstream version 2.1.0 not found.

I am still getting hard crash upon film start up first time after installing and having to force shut down pc and restart up.

After restarting - enter Kodi - start movie,  plays fine there on...

Yes HDR passthrough is only supported on Windows 10 because only that OS supports HDR itself (and video drivers of that OS).

On Win 7 / 8.1 can playback HDR with tone mapping (HDR to SDR conversion). MadVR will probably also do some sort of more or less sophisticated tone mapping in this scenario.


For addons issue is due that in latest days inputstream API has changed and this latest minute commit has not included on 3.5.0 installer....

Today I re-compiled again. Re-download new installer:

Is hard these days maintaining addons updated and coherent with repos for more that few days....

I dont think so, because in that case my tv switched to HDR mode and show "HDR" label.

These strange issues normally are hard to track but probably can be resolved with a clean install (deleting entire data profile).

You can try first with a portable mode (https://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Install_Ko...table_Mode) and if this fix the issue start to delete things in the current install. 

You can start by deleting guisettings.xml and addon_data only or maybe is necessary delete all and rebuild libraries.

Or maybe is a Windows / drivers / HW related issue, in this case problem should persist with portable mode too.

Nvidia driver is WHQL tested and is latest stable driver but yes i understand the point in Windows insider builds.

Hi there,

Just found this new build of Kodi and was wondering if anyone can help? I am trying to get the Atmos tracks on my Bluray ISO to work and I am not able to get it working. I have tried various combinations of Directsound and WASAPI, after enabling passthrough but it is not working.

I know Atmos works on other players but would really like to get it to work on Kodi.

Hi @hi2shy,

This Kodi build is not different of others in audio part. Atmos only works in WASAPI mode and if TrueHD passthrough switch is ON.

Select same WASAPI device for "audio output device" and "passthrough output device".

Settings needs to be in expert mode to view all options.

I did all of the above as you mentioned and had to disable the sync audio to display option and Atmos is finally working. Now need to work out why DTS:X audio is not working and is choppy.

Nothing special is needed for DTS:X, same as TrueHD and activate specific passthrough option for DTS and DTS-HD.
