Vero 4K+ Mini-review: The Only Native Kodi 4K + 3D Set-top Player

I was under the impression that this ran its own dedicated operating system however I have just powered it on and it boots to a google smart tv menu with KD player and lots of Icefilms type add ons built in.

Can someone explain if it should be booting to a linux based OS not Google?

That doesn't sound right.

We don't really sell on Amazon (low volume), so I'd be suggest sending a copy of your receipt to [email protected]. Unfortunately we've had some issues with people selling counterfeit models in the past.

Thanks

Sam

I've checked this and can confirm that the device was ordered from us and is genuine.
There shouldn't be anything dodgy on the image. It's a standard AOSP image.

We ask our manufacturing partner in China to ship the devices with a generic Android image instead of OSMC.
This also helps us prevent clones and if they do occur, identify them quickly. Unfortunately we've had problems with clones before. Last year, we found a seller selling prototypes that were lost by UPS on eBay.

Very rarely, the device is not re-imaged with OSMC in the UK. But it will pass QC and other inspection processes as they are separate steps.

I've offered some resolution steps via email.

Many thanks,

Sam

Thank you for the tip. I know about fstab but i wait for a Final (or pre) OSMC MVC Image that I can clean install and test.

@Sam.Nazarko thank you

The next 4.9 build (which includes MVC) should have improved buffering behaviour.

Thanks

Why do you say that? I have the 2017 model and other than the lack of 3D-MVC support it's been flawless for me! If it supported 3D I wouldn't even follow forums like this because it would be the only player I'd need!

What issues have you had?

@Sam.Nazarko thank you
Meant to say autofs for mounting for anyone interested, not fstab.

You need to install the 4.9 repository. See https://discourse.osmc.tv/t/testing-linu...k-4k/84874.

@hdmkv .
Hi. Have you tried playing a 50gb m2ts file in a usb drive plug into the Vero4k+?
Is it able to play without buffering?

Thanks.

Just small test samples, but what kind of m2ts would you like me to try? 1080p or 4K, any 24p or 60?

I own the Z9S and 3D and 4K HDR is working fine with Kodi and the external player. The only thing thats not working is that it sets the watched marker automatically.
So is there any to buy the Vero 4K+ other than this?
TV: LG OLED 910V [1080p/passive 3D] [HDMI 1.4]
HTPC: Shuttle DH270 w Kaby Lake i3-7300/HD630 & Windows 10 x64 Education 1703 [1920x1080/60Hz]
AV: Yamaha RX-477 w 5.1 Canton setup [HD-audio passthrough] [HDMI 1.4]
Kodi: 20171208-6c414ad-msdk_mvc_wip-x86 [1920x1080/60Hz] MVC3D
