Broken Kodi 18.8.0 - Kodi fails to obtain images while scraping movies
(2020-10-17, 13:11)Machou Wrote: Same with RPi2, Kodi 18.8 on OSMC, with Buster source.

Is only with tv show.

Can’t scrap thumbnail or lost it for show on my library.
...and have you read what is the solution or just came here with a useless "same here" post?

Well, I was going to try and reproduce the issue with image scraping for TV shows today and submit some data, then noticed the update for the TMDB scraper for TV shows. Did the update, and I can confirm scraping for TV shows is also fixed now. Granted, I had to manually refresh each TV show manually, but that’s to be expected.

Thanks again to all involved for providing updates to the affected components as quickly as you did.

I understand that the changes on Cloudfare more than likely broke other components within Kodi. However, I have yet to encounter anything else that’s broken at this time.

The combo of the below, as suggested, have resolved the issue for me.  Thanks @olympia

metadata.common.themoviedb.org-3.2.6.zip
metadata.tvshows.themoviedb.org-3.5.4.zip
metadata.themoviedb.org-5.2.2.zip

I had to goto Kodi Add-on Repo and check updates, this was the only way I could get the update to show, so update the Repo and you should be fine - thats what I've done....

My Add-ons
Add-on repository
Kodi Add-on repository
Update [within options]

Update should show, go back and you should see 'Available Updates' as normal. Hope it helps.....

I've just checked and I'm on 3.2.6 but still nothing here. Images still missing. Will try again tomorrow.

i also downloaded these:

metadata.common.themoviedb.org-3.2.6.zip
metadata.tvshows.themoviedb.org-3.5.4.zip
metadata.themoviedb.org-5.2.2.zip
and installed them from zip, but i'm also still missing the images.
(after the installs i rebooted the systems twice.)

am i missing some steps? shall i delete all thumbnails and do an update library afterwards?
or what am i missing?

Pick a movie or TV show that is missing the images, bring up the information for that movie/TV show, then select “Refresh”. Does it populate the images after selecting “Refresh”?  If not, you’ll probably need to reproduce the issue and submit a set of logs with LibcURL library logging enabled.

If your next question is “Is there a way to have it scrape and update all of the images automatically?”, I don’t believe there is.

It's still not working for me but I think it's because auf the Universal Scraper (with using TMDB).

I guess I have the latest version of the themoviedb.org plugins. There are no updates available in Kodi (18.8, Linux):

Maybe it would help to swtich to the TMDB scraper but I'd like to stay at the Universal Scraper.

Do I/we need also an update for the Universal Scraper?
Or is there another problem?

hi.
obviously i'm a total noob, i'm sorry in advance, but i couldn't find the info page with the "refresh" button. Sad i checked the basic control page (https://kodi.wiki/view/Basic_controls) tried to hold the "ok" button, but nothing happened. i started an episode which was missing the pictures, i found the "info" on the right side corner, but there were no refresh button there either.
i know, it's probably my bad, or it's because the remote control is a samsung default one. idk.
anyway.. i enabled the web control and browsed for the show which i was missing the pictures for, tried to look for the "refresh" and found it on the shows page under the more button.

there. Smile
after hitting "show and episodes" it said it will remove the show and re add it, and that did the trick.

i just wrote this down, because it might help others as well.

thanks for your support Smile

metadata.tvshows.themoviedb.org should be at version v3.5.4 if I’m not mistaken.

It is possible that the update hasn’t replicated on all the mirror sites yet and whichever mirror your Kodi app connected to doesn’t have the updated version yet. I believe one of the previous posts has a direct link to the TMDB TV Shows scraper update that you can manually download and install. Otherwise, you could wait until the fix has replicated to all mirror sites and try an update within Kodi again.

This should only impact scraping for TV Shows though. The issue with the movie scraping should be fixed provided you have the latest update for that add-on installed.

Don’t sweat it. I’m no expert on Kodi, myself. But I’ll try and help you out as much as I can.

Although I don’t have a Samsung TV, I believe their remotes have the directional (up, down, left, right) buttons on them. Is there a button inside those directional buttons on your Samsung remote?  It’s likely going to be the “Select”, “Enter”, or “Action” button.  It may not actually be labelled on your remote though. So what you want to do is use the directional buttons to highlight a movie that is missing the poster image. Once highlighted, press and hold the middle “Select” button for about 3 seconds. A menu should appear and you should see “Information” as one of the options on that menu. Select “Information”. That should bring up details about the movie such as a summary of the movie, the list of actors/actresses, etc.  At the bottom of that screen are some options such as “Play”, “Trailer”, “Your Rating”, etc. With the directional buttons, go to the bottom of the screen til one of those options are highlighted. Then go right until you see “Refresh”. Select “Refresh”. It will ask you if you want to refresh from the internet. Select “Yes”. Select the appropriate movie when it performs the scrape. At this point, it should populate the images for that movie. You will need to do this for every movie that is missing the artwork though.

Hope that works for you.

It sounds like you already have the latest version installed. It is this version number you need to check. We are now up to v3.2.6 so if you see that, then you are ok.

Okay when I started Kodi this morning I can see that The Movie Database Scraper Library is now showing the updated version:

metadata.common.themoviedb.org 3.2.6 (installed)

This hasn't fixed my problem however it is actually worse now than it was . 75% of my Kodi library is is blank rectangles (it was around 40%) and when I move over any of them I still get hundreds of :

ERROR: CCurlFile::Stat - Failed: Failure when receiving data from the peer(56) for http://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/image.jpg in kodi.log. I have tried restarting a few times.

It is definitely worse than it was, are there more steps?

I didn't take care about TV Shows by now and I didn't try.
I currently know/have the problems with Movies.
