Editing a TV/Timer creates a new Timer entry while also keeping the old Timer entry
#1
If I edit an existing TV/Timer (e.g., changing the Start Padding Time from 0 to 1) the change is accepted and a new Timer entry is created with the changed setting.  However, the original unedited Timer entry is also retained in the schedule.  So I end up with two Timer entries -- both the edited Timer and the original Timer.

Currently, my solution is to manually delete the original Timer entry; so that only the edited one remains.  But it's kind of annoying to have to do that each time I want to just edit an entry; and not create a second/duplicate.  Is it normal for Kodi to do this duplication of a Timer entry by design?  Or is this a bug?  If it is a bug, what's the procedure for reporting it? (FYI, I'm still a newbie to Kodi and these forums.)

Which PVR add-on are you using? Sounds like a bug.

I'm using NextPVR version 5.0.9 (201026).  Also, Kodi is version 18.9 (18.9.0) Git:20201023-0655c2c718.  And this is a Win 10 Pro system version 1909.  Assuming this is a bug, what's the procedure and/or the appropriate forum for reporting it?

I'll move you to the appropriate forum so the developer can spot your issue.

There are a lot of timer types and combinations and you didn't send any debug log but I know there were timer modify issues fixes in the last year in Matrix.  I am not going to bother looking into it for Leia but if you duplicate it in Matrix let me know.  The best workaround is simply to use the web interface to do this.

I just now updated Kodi from Leia [version 18.9 (18.9.0) Git:20201023-0655c2c718] to Matrix [version 19.0-BETA2 (18.9.821) Git: 20201207-8cc9e80e41].  The problem is still there, and easily reproducible.  I go to TV/Timers, Add timer..., create a new timer of Type: Recording: One time (manual).  Once the entry is entered, I go back and edit it (e.g., change the Start Padding Time).  After clicking OK to save the edited entry, there are now two Timer entries listed -- both identical except for the edited value (e.g., the Start Padding Time).

Let me know if you need any other info to help reproduce this issue.

Thanks.  Logs are certainly required but could you use the appropriate zip for your testing, https://jenkins.kodi.tv/job/kodi-pvr/job...ob/PR-157/ so I can see what is going on.

Martin, please excuse me if this seems like a dumb question, but what do I do with the contents of the zip file that I downloaded?  Keep in mind that I'm a newbie as far as using Kodi and NextPVR.  So I'm not sure how to go about getting more info for you, or exactly what you're looking for.  (But if you point me in the right direction, I'll be more than happy to try to get it.)

Download the zip file and there is an option in Kodi to install from zip.  Seeing the debug logs will give me a lot of info on what type of manual recording you are talking about.

Ok, so I have a debug log file.  But here's another newbie question.  How do I upload the file to you?

That is what I wanted to see but you made the change before Kodi had even loaded the recordings so it wouldn't have known is was a modify.  Could you try the same test but wait a couple of minutes.

I re-did the test making sure that I waited at least a full 3 minutes after starting Kodi and opening the list of TV/Timers.  I edited one of the Timers listed there at exactly 7:11 PM per the system's clock.  That would be 2021-01-02 19:11 in the log file.  And then I waited a full 3 minutes or more after that before exiting Kodi.  Here's the resulting log file: https://paste.kodi.tv/ewifuroqol.kodi   Also I can also confirm that a duplicate entry was created at that same time as well -- at 7:11 PM.  Let me know if this is what you needed.
