Menu and Submenu
#1
Hello
How can I add Submenus to main Menu that show files.

To explain
Menu is:
- Movies
Submenus are:
- Superman
- Marvel
- Ocean's

The goal is to hover over Menu "Movies" and then the Submenus are shown.
Once I click to i.e.: Submenu "Superman" then the movies are shown in Files view.

Thank you for your help

@Heinrichxx , to change the submenu for a menu item, select "Customize Submenu" in the menu configuration dialog.  Then, use the same instructions I gave you before.  Please make sure you have added as sources the folders you want to use as submenu items.  Thanks.

Hello
I tried this
1. The Instructions brevious thread
2. Your instruction here.
Do I have to change the "Change Action" as in your Picture?
Have I to edit the "Titles.xml"?
Thank you

@Heinrichxx , as I mentioned before, you first have to add as sources the folders that you want to have show up as submenu items.  I will demonstrate here with a folder I have called "movieswitha".  In your case it could be "Spuerman".

1. Go to Videos, Files, Add Videos...

Image

Browse to the folder you want.  In my case I will browse to MovieswithA:

Image

Go into the folder and press OK.

You can of course change the label for the source if you want:

Image

Press OK, and in the next dialog ensure that the content type says None, so that you can get a files view, since I understand you are not scanning this into your library:

Image

Then, go to Settings, Amber Settings, Home Layout, Customize Home Menu and Shelves.

Go to Movies, and select "Customize Submenu"

Image

Then add an item:

Image

And select "Choose Item for Menu"

Image

Select "Video Library", then "Sources", then the source you created (I will select MovieswithA):

Image

Then select "Create Menu Item to Here".

After, ensure that you select "Files View" in the following dialog:

Image

You can change the label for the submenu item if you wish.  You should have something similar to this:

Image

As example, I did the same thing with another folder "MovieswithB", and now have both as submenu items for Movies:

When I choose "Movies With A", I get this:

Please let me know if this is what you were looking for.  Thanks.

@Heinrichxx , I am sorry that you are having issues.  It does not matter if the movies are imported into the video library.  You can configure the submenus as you want.  I think that in order for me to help you better, I would like you to tell me exactly what you want to achieve, including what is your current folder structure.  Give me an exact example, with the locations of where things are your system, of what you want for the Movies submenu, and at least one of the submenus that you want.  I would like, if possible, for you to let me know:

1. What do you want to happen when you open the Movies main menu?
-- if you want to see all of your movies in the library (the default for this menu item), is this happening now? If not, what is happening?
-- if you want something else to happen, what do you want to happen?
2. Where are your movies located? Can you give me specific examples of how your folders are set up?
3. What are all of the submenus that you want for the Movies menu item?
-- For each submenu that you want, where are the movies for that submenu located? Specific folder examples please
-- What do you want to happen when you click on each submenu?

Hopefully with this information I will be able to help you better.  Thanks.

Regards,

Bart
