Release CU LRC Lyrics
Hello, my TV (Sony Bravia XBR running Android) updated to Kodi v19 (Matrix) this morning, and immediately disabled ALL addons, saying not compatible with this version. Throughout the day, updates became available, included CU LRC lyrics, but it will not work properly. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all addons, including adding extra audio decoders that weren't required before.

I add lyrics manually, Applian Replay Music, and have built up quite a bit that I have done, which Kodi has had no problem playing. Some songs, it would even find outside sources and scroll. It wasn't even doing that.

After uninstalling and reinstalling CU LRC Lyrics through Kodi repository, one song did pull some lyrics of sorts, but incorrect as it came from the web, but totally ignored the embedded lyrics that it has always read in the past!

Please fix whatever went wrong, as this update to Kodi has really messed things up, especially the biggest reason in which I use Kodi on my TV.

I do not have a way of getting the logs as it is a TV. It does run Android, and I can see part of its file system, but no way to get anything out of it regardless. But I can show that the settings are where they should be.

Hello? Is no one else experiencing this issue? Does anyone else embed lyrics in their mp3's?

I have noticed more online sources for my music, which is a plus and I am greatful, as there are many that do not have embedded lyrics and did not pull lyrics before. But I am upset that I have done all this work, for Kodi to update, disabling and screwing up all the addons and now my work is for nothing.

I see others get replies, in prior posts, so is anyone looking in to this, as to why my mp3's no longer display the lyrics I have embedded, like this:

Image

Please, this is frustrating! Are there more addons that it depends on in which are no longer compatible due to Kodi's recent update to 19-Matrix?

I would like to remove my google play review of 1-star; or allowing me to revert to the previous version through google play on my tv would also be acceptable.

I noticed Kodi had the same update waiting on my phone, running same OS as TV, and replicated my actions, using both the song that is in the screenshot above, streaming from network as well as located locally on its SD card, and it is true, CU LRC lyrics no longer finds embed lyrics! I even tried a song in which I knew it found an online source and auto-scrolled, which worked fine on my phone - just not my original complaint from the update Kodi.

I did so on the phone to obtain the log, which I pasted, as suggested. I just don't know what next, as you can't paste it here. Do you see it? Or I send you the link?

Me too so I asked the developer and he could not help. So I went back to Kodi 18 which runs fine.

I'm obviously new to the forum here, as Kodi has worked for me quite well for a long time ....but I thought this was asking the developers.

How do I roll back the version on an Android TV? I see where older versions are available, but it will not let me install it.

1 enable debug logging in kodi
2 enable debug logging in the cu lrclyrics addon settings
3 restart kodi
4 reproduce the issue
5 post the entire kodi.log file on http://paste.ubuntu.com/

You will receive NO support without a debug log.

Posting more logs, both the log and log.old

My steps:
1. Played an MP3 that has embedded lyrics and was read just fine prior to update, for it now to say "no lyrics found"
2. Played an MP3 that has embedded lyrics and was read just fine prior to update, for it now to display incorrect lyrics that it found online, ignoring the correct ones in the file itself.
3. Played an MP3 that does NOT have embedded lyrics, but noticed due to more sources, correct lyrics appear (did so for contrast, as well as to say I am thankful for the new sources)

I also enjoy having synchronised lyrics displayed on my TV while playing music but instead of embedding the lyrics in the files I have always used LRC sidecar files. In my opinion the best Kodi skin for this is Transparency but sadly this is not and according to the Transparency developer will never be compatible with Kodi 19 (or later). The next best skin for me is Confluence and this still displays my synchronised lyrics correctly.

If you want to try this method instead of embedding your lyrics in your music files then the LRC files must have identical names to the music tracks eg. Song1.mp3 must have Song1.LRC and the LRC files have a particular structure with which they must comply. This sounds harder to achieve than it is in practice. I use the wonderful LRC-Lyricist program to do this job. You point it to your music track then paste in the lyrics in plain text format (which I always check are correct first) and then click play to start the track playing after which you press return to mark the start of every lyric ine. At then end you stop the track playing and click the save button which saves a correctly named and formatted LRC file. It can even move all lines forward or back in 0.1 sec increments to allow for delays in displaying the lyrics on your TV, or monitor. The only restriction is that LRC-Lryicist is a Windows only program so you need a Windows PC on which to run.

Further experimentation with the skins available in Kodi 19 shows that Amber, which I'd never tried before, also does a great job at displaying synchronised lyrics. It's more complex to configure than Confluence or Estuary but that just means you can better get it to match your requirements than other skins. I also had to add an advancedsettings.xml file to get it to maintain the song info OSD on screen during full-screen music playback but for lyric display, album artwork and track details it's a great solution. In case anyone wonders, in my opinion Estuary is not suitable for this job because the font it uses for lyric display is too big and the track info display is too limited compared to Confluence or Amber. For me, none of these are as good as Transparency for full-screen music playback with lyrics and custom background artwork but I guess that'll just have to be a happy memory now as I'm not prepared to continue with Kodi 18.9 and having updates switched off indefinately.

So, as I take this step by step, what you said .... it's dependent upon the skin?

I appreciate you trying to help. You've given me all the tools now, and cannot say it's impossible  - assuming CU LRC does not override incorrect lyrics found in online source as it has done now with overlooking embedded lyrics.

The LRC-Lyricist seems like it should have been the way to go for me, be it a lot of work. I already wish for my work not to be lost, but I will take everything you said in to consideration and see what works best, knowing what you have tried.

Thanks for replying.

I don't have any SYLT lyrics, but there is a log uploaded addon in the repo that will upload your android TV log.

I replicated the issue with my phone. And I have the debug enabled on the addon. Was there something I missed?

Ok, I turned on every option for debug logging I could find, then restarted Kodi, and did the following:

1. Played a song with embedded lyrics to be told none found
2. Played a song with embedded lyrics to be overridden with incorrect ones it found in an online source.
3. Tried to play a song that it recently found lyrics to, but went to the one before it by accident. No lyrics found - correct.
4. Played a song in which an online source provided the correct lyrics (which I don't believe it could for this band prior to update)

hope this helps!
