Arctic: Zephyr - Reloaded
(2022-01-08, 21:08)leschranz Wrote: Got one more question about the movieset information... I noticed that I get no information for sets in cases where I changed the titles so it seems the search is based on the title of the movieset instead of the "tmdbSet" value (which is present for all my sets). Now one option would be to rename the sets again but unfortunately this search behaviour also can result in a wrong identification, one example are the Pink Panther movies where two different sets exist (Original and Steve Martin). In my case it tells me I have 2 out of 9 movies in my library for "The Pink Panther (Steve Martin) Collection" but that's incorrect, 9 would be the correct total for "The Pink Panther (Original) Collection".

Now I am wondering wether this is how you chose to search for the information or wether this is just how TMDB Helper works?

I have no idea, because im not so familiar with using tmdbhelper. You can try to refresh the tmdb cache, as jurialmunkey said:

Thanks, but I had already tried that. I guess the issue is with the TMDB Helper plugin then, so I have posted my question in the corresponding thread.

In Fanart view if you double tap 'right' on your remote it will bring up an alphabetic scroll menu. For whatever reason this does not work when first booting up Kodi. I have to select Movies, leave and re-enter for the scroll menu to appear as intended.

Anyone else?

Please try a fallback or arial font. You can change this, if you click on the "default"-value, that you can see on your screenshot.

Hi beatmasterRS, been a while. Hope you're well. Am still enjoying this skin after a year of use.

Two things I was hoping you could help me with:

1) I'm having some trouble getting the OSD to do what I want. For example, I can't get it to disappear during subtitle offset adjustment, making the latter function very difficult to use. I also can't seem get rid of buttons that I don't use, such as bookmarks or 3D-related stuff. I much prefer the Reloaded version of the OSD, but that too has button text cut off due to lack of space. Am I stupidly overlooking the options to fix this? (EDIT: ah the subtitle offset thing actually works fine if you use a shortkey for it!)

2) I was also wondering, was any progress ever made to make the skin a bit more OLED-friendly on home scree? I remember myself and some others posted about it a long while back. I also remember offering some help in trying to turn the low opacity gray darkening overlay into a 100% black one. Sadly I never got around to that (and admittedly I was never sure if I even understood you right as to the details of what causes the issue – but if you could point me in the right direction, making a grayish low opacity transparent image into a full-black low opacity transparent image should be a piece of cake.)

Thanks once again for all your hard work!

EDIT: see e.g. the image in this post: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid3021094 where I joked the issue was 25% fixed due to us being able to remove the overlay from the fanart window. (I think this could solve it 100%, but then the darkening effect for fanart would be sacrificed in those cases):

EDIT 2: also see this image of the skin home screen set to 100% black background fallback on OLED, vs an image of what black normally looks like on the panel:

Hi beatmasterRS, firstly great work on the skin, been using it on all my kodi boxes for a while now. Just wondering if it is possible to display the media flags (primarily HDR / Dolby Vision) in the TV shows list? Various media flags are displayed on the Movies list (as shown in your opening post screenshot ) but on the TV shows I only get rating, resolution and/or aired date.

This is what I would like displayed under TV shows list:

This is what I currenly get:

Many thanks in advance!

Hi: you could set permanently what I choose, eg I want POSTER FLIX V2, but when I load the following videos, it gives the display mode again
List. Aura skin mod has this option to set the default display, it would be very nice if that option was also Arctic.
Well thank you.

AZ-R shows the data provided by the infolabel. Normally a "tvshow" does not contain this information, but the episodes.

The idea with AZ-R was that the skin gets some coloring (light/dark). This happens, as you already noticed, through overlays and fallback images behind the fanart. Unfortunately, it is not possible to show only the fallback image without an overlay. If you want to look in the skin code yourself: the related textures are floor.png and background.jpg.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Awesome! It's been ages since I did any photo editing and don't have PS or so installed, but assuming it's just a low opacity layer in a transparent PNG imagine, then we just open it in MS Paint and drag the color values (EDIT 2: I meant thresholds) to 100% black, methinks.

One thing I can't get my head wrapped around at all is how a JPEG could be involved in all this. Those can't be made to be transparent as far as I'm aware. Do you have any insight on how that works?

EDIT: also, what's the story with the fanart window? Do you remember what you changed back then to make the fanart window capable of showing 100% black?

The background.jpg, layer 1 has no transparency.
The fanart, layer 2 has a transparency (named "brightness" in skin settings), which you can choose, releated to the home menu layout. In some layouts there is no transparency.
The floor.png, layer 3 has a tranparency or is disabled, related to the home menu layout

I hope, its more clear now.

What do you mean exactly? You could disable the fanart window or set the transparency/brightness to 100%. (Btw: It's more a transparency then brightness, but i thought it would be easier to understand)

Ahh so the Fanart window is a cut-out from floor.png?

Although I don't understand why floor.png is white (with a bit of grey) instead of black (with a bit of grey), I've gone ahead and edited the image. I assume the skin inverts the overlay at some point.

Please note this means that I got rid of the grays in the image by making all the color in the image be transparent 255/255 white (rather than taking them down to 0/255 black as I first intended). Even if it doesn't have the desired effect, it cleans up the overlay nicely in any case, since anything besides 0 black (or apparently inverted 255 white) isn't needed for the overlay effect.

See here:

EDIT : direct link because imgur is being a nuisance: https://i.imgur.com/K7in27d.png

EDIT2: NOPE! I just compiled the Textures xbt with the new file and it doesn't help a lot. It looks different and a bit more smooth as regards the OLED grays, but the smudge isn't noticeably better. I think I'm just misunderstanding how the overlay works. It seems the image color isn't inverted like I thought and the white smudge from floor.png seems somehow actually applied on top of the actual darkening effect.

I'm probably gonna experiment a bit more with different floor.png versions, but I don't think it's likely I'll find anything that works.

Hurray! Solved!

I made floor.png 100% transparent (lol) and I made bg.jpg 100% black. This completely solved the issue for my use-case. My poor pixels are finally getting a rest!

Interesting note: I haven't noticed any negative effects from doing this so far. All my usual views and visual settings seem to work fine, background brightness adjustment too.

EDIT: making the floor.png fully transparent gets rid of the gradient in the darkening effect. But after more experimenting, changing the hue of floor.png to black (without messing with opacity) actually preserves the original gradient darkening effect of the skin excellently and clears up all of the smudge that originated from this image, so I went with that. In fact, I'm not sure why that image was ever gray/white in the first place (i.e why have a white darkening overlay?).

Admittedly, I still have no idea what the role of bg.jpg is in all of this, but making it 100% black (same as my fallback bg) finally got rid of the last bit of the smudge.

These are the images I ended up compiling into the textures (note the notes on imgur): https://i.imgur.com/a/O38zGY0
