Release YouTube
You've got 401 and oauth errors - looks like your account credentials (or your api keys) are wrong, or more likely expired or otherwise invalidated.

I would start by checking those, and maybe set up a new set of keys etc - there are details of how to do that at the start of this thread and occasionally in other places through it.

Hi and thanks for your reply. I have done that the first time i got this problem but that did not help. Will try again and see...

Have taken a look at this now but i must say that i have no clue at all how to make do or setup. And i can't find a good explaination for it either.

Found something but when trying to follow that guide i keep getting error client id and api key. Have removed all users in the settings for youtube addon and started over. But NOTHING helps... so insanely bad that i will soon shoot myself. Smile

Good evening, I have OSMC running Kodi 19 with the youtube plugin 6.8.18+matrix.1 and I am also successfully logged in via OAuth to the plugin. But I cant play age restricted videos that I am able to play with the same account on my phone and computer :/
I found this: https://github.com/anxdpanic/plugin.vide...issues/228 but the problem seems to still persist. Are there any news yet?

The following two are just two examples that definitely work on phone/computer with the same yt account:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rR-HVSt1RhQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuO8Yo5yZ5c

I also found that age restriction button in the yt plugin settings, but toggling it doesnt change anything, I still get this content is inappropriate age bla bla error Sad

@anxdpanic

i have also to notify.... when you try to watch a "premiere" video it's not possible to move backwards the timeline.

it's instead possible on youtube app or youtube from browser....

I was getting the same Invalid Client errors from Oauth2.0 when trying to pair the addon with the website. After much messing around, I finally worked out what was causing the problem. I'll share the info here to help others having the same problem:

The issue is that since the YouTube addon was created, a new client ID type "TV and limited input" has been added to the API and you can now only pair the addon using that type of client ID. If you created your API keys some time ago, it will more than likely have the client ID type of "Desktop".

You need to go to the credentials page of the API console: https://console.cloud.google.com/apis/credentials/ and click "Create Credentials" at the top of the page, then select "OAuth Client ID". Next you will see a drop-down menu for "Application Type", select "TV and limited input devices" and click "Create". You should now be given a new client id and client secret that will work with the addon.

Does anyone else get the quota exceeded message today? I have another issue with youtube since a couple of days ago, so I wanted to open an issue report on github, and all of a sudden I get the quota exceeded error! I must have watched like... 10-15 more videos in youtube yesterday than I usually watch.

Also, if anxdpanic is readig this, please correct the url at the right side of github. Instead of leading to this thread, it now leads to 404. And make it https if possible Smile

Same here. Started for me last night. Happened once before maybe a year ago or mre but I don't remember if it just went away on its own that time. Came here to see if anybody else seeing the same problem.

UPDATE: Seems to be working correctly again. Hopefully it will stay that way.

UPDATE 2: It's messed up again. Only getting a page and a half of "My Subscriptions" and only three of the dozens of channels I'm subscribed to. I suspect it's something up with the RSS feed this addon uses now, not with the addon itself.

The link to this forum at the top of the official Kodi YouTube Addon Page is broken. Took me a while to find my way back here by following links from the retired forums.

I've had this issue sporadically for the last few days and it's not the first time it's happened to me over the last year either.  No idea what it was and it'd eventually go away too.

yes, was working correctly for awhile and now appears broken again.  no idea why this sporadically happens

Yes it's broken again for me too. It was working up till a couple of hours ago but now I'm back to only three of the dozens of channels I'm subbed to, and only about a page and a half of "My Subscriptions" is showing.

Couple of things for the general viewing audience:

I have seen some references to the idea that the creator / maintainer of this add-on is no longer updating or replying here ...

what does that mean for this add-on?

does it just keep gradually glitching until it doesn't work at all?

is there another add-on for YouTube?

will someone else start working on it?

right now - some 720p videos crash Kodi completely (frowny face screen) so I have it set to 480p to bypass the random crashes but now that I suspect issues are no longer being fixed ...

so - just wanna state I hope that @anxdpanic has walked away cuz they were done with it and that it's not that something more serious has forced them to stop ... I hope someone picks it up or creates a new one cuz I use my RPie to watch YouTube on my TV ... it's less work than dealing with a computer and I like the controls ;-) ... if anyone has any idea what's going on or where things are going with Kodi YouTube addons let me know

thanks for all the help I've gotten here ... have a good one ;-)
