I just downloaded the test release and indeed it now selects one studio this is great for skins like Aeon Nox and other skinds that use studio icons.

I found a bug with the original single studio code and have added the option to enable/disable a single studio.  It is under the Native Mode tab near the bottom.  Can you download this latest version 2.1.9.9h which will be the release version unless you or I find something else ?

Yes, the artwork needs to be inserted into the Kodi library in native mode.  In GUI mode the addon needs to display it as part of the lisitem directory but right now, as you've mentioned,  Mezzmo itself won't find that artwork.  I need to know which method you are using (GUI mode or native mode) to better understand the options.   I have a couple in mind but I need to be careful not to break things..

The artwork question aside how is everything else going with Mezzmo and the addon ?  There is a bit of a learning curve due to all the features but hopefully you are finding it easy to use and long term your library administration should get very easy.

Mezzmo is not difficult to setup and together with the Mezzmo Kodi addon it's easy to have it up and running. I believe it's the easiest way to share libraries not counting ththe build-in upnp shared library option within Kodi.

Additional artwork isn't going to work right now in either mode.  What additional artwork types are you looking for and how do you normally get the images, manually, with a Kodi scraper, with a Kodi addon or a third party tool ?   Also are you looking to have additional types and additional existing supported artwork (i.e. multiple posters, fanart images etc..) or just additional artwork types? 

The easiest way to have the Mezzmo Kodi addon support additional artwork is to have a folder (either local or SMB share) which holds the additional artwork, with the standard Kodi naming scheme and then have the Mezzmo Kodi Addon import them into the Kodi video and Mezzmo10 local databases for display in Native and GUI modes respectively during the background sync process.  This would handle everything except scraping the artwork. 

Is there a specific place you get the additional artwork ?  I have additional tools such as the Mezzmo artwork and Mezzmo Trailer tools.  Something similar could be used to fetch additional artwork or leverage an existing tool which will fetch the artwork and place it into a designated folder with the proper naming convention.   I presume you already have a collection of the additional artwork ?

I think this type of approach could work without breaking the current design tenants or requiring major Mezzmo server changes.  Thoughts ?

Once you begin to explore all the features of Mezzmo and the addon I think you'll really be impressed.

I did some testing and came up with a slightly different approach for additional artwork, leveraging the Mezzmo UserPoster feature,  I created an image called clearlogo-dune.jpg, placed it in the UserPoster folder on the server and was able to to fetch it from the Mezzmo server with the standard artwork URL.  That avoids the SMB mapping to fetch the artwork from Mezzmo but doesn't solve the question on how the Kodi clients would know the artwork is there. 

One option would be to SMB map the UserPoster folder to each client to do the search but let the Mezzmo server handle serving the artwork.  I've tried to avoid SMB mapping from Kodi clients but am happy to get feedback.

Another option would be trial and error during the daily / full sync (i.e. try the URL and see if I get a 200 response from the server vs. a 403 error.).  That is a bit brute force and would create a ton of unnecessary web calls.

An updated version of the Mezzmo Kodi addon for both Kodi v18 (v1.2.0.0) and
Kodi v19+ (v2.2.0.0) have been posted on GitHub. These versions contain
some new features and bug fixes. A lot of time was spent hardening the Kodi sync
code and improving how nosync and live channels are handled. Some usability
enhancements were added like being able to get a complete TV series listing
from any episode in the series from GUI mode. As well there is a really cool
new feature with v2.2.0.0 for Mezzmo Movie Previews where you can adjust
the volume of the trailers and the main movie feature to handle uneven volume.

*** Important Notes***

Please note, as mentioned previously, these releases are the first time where there
will begin to be differences in features between the Kodi 18 and Kodi 19+ versions
of the Mezzmo Kodi Addon. Feature differences will continue to grow and the Kodi
18 version of the addon will soon become bug fix only updates through the end
of 2024.

I think that it could potentially make the addon too complex and less reliable in the future, because Mezzmo simply doesn't support additional artwork. I would leave it as it is and just focus on optimizing. You already did so much with the studio thing.

An updated version of the Mezzmo Trailer Checker (v0.0.20) has been uploaded to GitHub. This new
version fixes a couple bugs and adds the ability to fetch and import manually entered IMDB trailers.
Now you can select your own IMDB trailer and provide the URL. with trailer URL formatting.

v0.0.20 fixes and features:

• Added the ability to manually enter your own IMDB trailer URLs vs. needing
an IMDB key. See config file.
• Updated version of yt-dlp.exe to address IMDB download issues with certain
newer trailers
• Minor bugfix where trailer format conversion from mp4 to mkv would stall
if destination file name already existed.


To get started please review the Getting Started page on the Wiki. The current version of the Mezzmo Trailer Checker is v0.0.20 can be downloaded here.

It is highly recommended to do a backup of your Mezzmo database before using the tool and the Mezzmo GUI and server service need
to be stopped in order for it the checker to write to the Mezzmo database. This is a protection mechanism to ensure just one application is writing
to the Mezzmo database at a time.

The tool has been working very well for me, especially since the fixes in v0.0.3. I find myself watching more movies in my Mezzmo / Kodi library due to the
the Mezzmo Movie Previews feature and local trailers I have Mezzmo Movie Previews set to 3 previews. Now I get 3 random trailers from the release year
of the movie which haven't been watched in my library, then the main movie starts. It's an almost movie theater-like experience..

Version 1.0.15 of the Mezzmo Artwork Checker has been uploaded to GitHub.
This version has 3 minor fixes for the statistics output.

New Features / Fixes in v1.0.15:

• Fixed a bug which would cause a divide by zero error when parsing the statistics
and no IMDB fetch attempts occurred
• Fixed a statistics display bug where the TMDB fetched image counter would increment
when it was skipped due to already being fetched by IMDB
• Added a daily new image counter to the display statistics so you can see new images
added during the current day

I've been using this utility for a couple of years now and have fetched over
16,500 additional images from TMDB / IMDB for actors and actresses.

The Mezzmo artwork checker provides a very easy way to add new artwork
to your library without the need to rescrape your underling movies or TV
episodes. You can even set it up as a batch file to run daily.

For any of you helping with testing the upcoming Kodi 21 Omega release and running the beta 3 version
of code, you may have noticed that the actor/actress search no longer works with the latest version
of the Mezzmo Kodi addon, v2.2.0.0.

I have posted a new test version 2.2.0.0b which fixes this issue and will later become the official
v2.2.0.1 release. This issue is caused by Team Kodi introducing a new feature called Kodi Movie Version,
which is very similar to the existing Mezzmo Kodi addon Movie Collections feature but is limited to
stand-alone Kodi instances. This new feature requires an additional table to be populated for movie
searches via the Kodi information panel.

The 2.2.0.0b release now populates the new Kodi feature but every movie will currently be a standard
edition as there is no mapping currently available between Mezzmo and the various Kodi Movie Version
types (i.e. Standard Edition, Extended Edition etc..). If there is enough interest in the future I will be
happy to explore some type of mapping schema (i.e. movie title or Mezzmo keyword to movie version
etc..) and similar, which could allow centrally managing Kodi Movie Versions.

Note that there are a few other updates in this 2.2.0.0b test release:

• Moved Only Show Mezzmo Servers addon setting from the View tab to the Timers & Servers
tab to align with the Only Discover Mezzmo Servers addon setting.
• Modified Mezzmo set playcount and bookmark calls to honor Mezzmo server timeout setting
vs. being hardcoded to 60 seconds.
• Added Search tab option to limit the number of returned Mezzmo search results between
25-500. The default is 100 results.
• Fixed obscure search bug where too many returned results would generate a Mezzmo server
not responding error before presenting the search results.
• Increased the maximum number of movies, episodes or music videos that can be in a Mezzmo
or Kodi collection from 100 to 1000 items. This will now support TV Shows with a large
number of episodes to be included with related movies into a single collection.
• Fixed actor search not displaying movies when running Kodi 21 Beta 3 and higher. This
was caused by the Kodi video database Movie View now requiring the videoversion table
to be populated in order to support the upcoming Kodi Movie Version new feature.


The official 2.2.0.1 release is schedule for some time in March.

code and fixing a couple of obscure bugs. Included is a new feature, Mezzmo
Maximum Playcount, which provides a unique way to centrally manage your
playcounts with Mezzmo with the Mezzmo. You only need to enable this feature
on one Kodi instance and it will manage ensuring your playcounts stay where you
want across all Kodi and non-Kodi clients. I do recommend upgrading to Mezzmo
version 6.0.7.22 or higher before enabling this feature. Version 2.2.0.1 fixes an
issue caused by the Kodi Movie Version feature added in Kodi 21 beta 3 which
broke actor / actress searches.

and podcasts.  The current version supports all US iHeart Radio stations.  Mezzmo channels are nice
because they don't require Kodi addons, they run from the Mezzmo server and are available to all
Kodi and non-Kodi clients.  Mezzmo handles the live streams and sends the stream to each client
in a format based upon their specific capabilities.  Other recently updated Mezzmo channels include
Movie Trailers and TV Trailers, which can be fully automated without the need for addons.

Kodi and non-Kodi clients.  Mezzmo handles the live streams and sends the stream to each client
in a format based upon their specific capabilities.  Other recently updated Mezzmo channels include
Movie Trailers and TV Trailers, which can be fully automated without the need for addons.

An updated version of the Mezzmo Trailer Checker (v0.0.21) has been uploaded to GitHub. This new
version fixes a minor bug and has some minor updates.

v0.0.21 fixes and features:

• Updated yt-dlp.exe to eliminate 404 error messages
• Fixed minor bug detecting 1080P / 49k audio format (140/139)
• Added logging of fetch and trailer formats results commands to logfile for
easier troubleshooting

It is highly recommended to do a backup of your Mezzmo database before using the tool and the Mezzmo GUI and server service need
to be stopped in order for it the checker to write to the Mezzmo database. This is a protection mechanism to ensure just one application is writing
to the Mezzmo database at a time.

The tool has been working very well for me, especially since the fixes in v0.0.3. I find myself watching more movies in my Mezzmo / Kodi library due to the
the Mezzmo Movie Previews feature and local trailers I have Mezzmo Movie Previews set to 3 previews. Now I get 3 random trailers from the release year
of the movie which haven't been watched in my library, then the main movie starts. It's an almost movie theater-like experience..

I think that it could potentially make the addon too complex and less reliable in the future, because Mezzmo simply doesn't support additional artwork. I would leave it as it is and just focus on optimizing. You already did so much with the studio thing.

I've been giving this some additional thought.  There may be a simpler easy approach to handling the additional artwork, I simply add the additional art type URLs to the art table in the Kodi database.  Then if the artwork actually exists in the UsrPoster folder it will be displayed,  if not, it won't be displayed or a blank image would be displayed.  This is no different than if you delete a current image but never tell Mezzmo it is gone or has changed.

I'd make this a Native addon option, like many of the other sync options.  Looking at the artwork types Kodi suggests,   I'd lean towards adding banner, cleartart and landscape.  Support for multiples of the same type (i.e. poster1, poster2 etc..) couldn't easily be supported in this manner.  Are these the additional artwork types you are looking for ?  There is also a clearlogo. 

The artwork would have to follow the standard naming convention in order to be found  (i.e. moviename-banner.jpg, moviename-landscape.jpg etc..)
