WIP Transparency! for Omega+ w/Skin Shortcuts Integration
#61
Hi @mikeSiLVO

Just a couple of minor PVR issues...

1. The Plot section might be a bit too small as it cuts off lower characters. I wouldn't mind each guide row being reduced in height to make more room for the plot area.

2. In the Recordings view, when selecting a recording to view its Information, the previous screen bleeds through and makes the view look a bit weird. Also, can you add a Play button as trying to find the letter P on a keyboard in the dark can be quite hit and miss. Also, same issue with bottom line of the plot being cut.

Thanks Smile

Hi @mikeSiLVO
Commit Home fanart tweaks : c92ca2e seems to have broken the broken the background frame fanart implementation.
I get only the frames, with a blank interior.  Debug inspection doesn't trap any error, it just fails silently.

I tested further along the commit chain in case there was a relevant change later...
skin_shortcuts branch up to  PVR fixes : c0bb891
flags_rework branch up to  Update rating classification mediaflags (wip) : a1491aa

If the Home fanart tweaking is still WIP please ignore this post  Wink

Thank you so much!!!
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first (usually it's enough to follow instructions in the second post).

Hi @mikeSiLVO

Another little item, probably due to the font change.
In the settings page, the third line of the blurb at the bottom of the screen is partly offscreen...

@Karellen Thanks, it will be fixed in the next release Smile

I am in the middle of a refactor so it might be a couple of days to a week before the next version is out.

Is there a want or a need for submenu item backgrounds?

Hrmmm ... the 'completionist' creature lurking in my hindbrain likes the *idea* of having absolutely every menu component completely customisable ... but whether I, or anyone, would actually *use* the feature in reality - I suspect not.

My vote is for "let this idea slip quietly away, and save yourself the effort".  Let's see if anyone else chimes in.

Hopefully, this update is "release version" worthy but I've done a lot of code changes so something could be broken.
Let me know of any issues or anything that looks out of place.

It shouldn't be too difficult to add this and the thought process behind it, would be using a smart playlist as a background for a menu item based on that same playlist.
For example, if you had an MCU submenu and only wanted to see fanart from those movies.

I'd have to add playlists as an option for backgrounds in the first place but that is pretty easy.

I guess I'll wait tho since it seems this forum doesn't get a lot of traffic from being in the skin archive for so long.

0.0.7 is working very good.

Wife asked to send her feedback, she asked if it would be possible to make the blue a bit more visible?
77" LG oled with Nvidia Shield Pro in use and still that active blue area in the buttons seems a little... not visible enough.

@Raitsa
huh  First time I've seen someone wanting an element in Transparency to be ... less transparent Angel

Kidding aside - rather than change it globally for everyone using the skin, it's nice and easy to fix it to your wife's taste in your local install.
(much easier than the "remove unwanted buttons" thing previously)

All the GUI elements are sitting in the /media directory of the skin.
The ones you'll need to change are named osdplayer-$function-focus.png
e.g. for the Play state of the button, change osdplayer-play-focus.png

All I did here was bump up the colour saturation of the pale blue area and increased it's opacity from 25% to 50%

As long as you don't change the dimensions or name of the image you can do pretty much what you like to them without breaking anything else in the skin.

Edit:
Your wife might have a point - I forgot to change back a couple of the example buttons I edited and found that, oh yeah ... I think I prefer the extra visibility too  Blush

@mikeSiLVO That honkin' big ol' bucket of changes for 0.0.7 seems to have gone remarkably smoothly - all the major stuff works well, and I haven't found any niggly little things while using it for the last couple of days. Outstanding work Cool

To be honest, this section of the forum was pretty quiet for a long time before that - @ronie got busy with other Kodi Project things and Transparency only got occasional tweaks & fixes rather than active new-feature development for a good number of years before he formally "retired" it.

Thinking of your MCU example I can see how this might be quite an attractive feature for people with huge movie libraries, who make use of things like sets and genre groupings, or who make extensive use of the extrafanart options for those and TV Shows or Music artists etc.
That's not me, so I hope some of those sorts do eventually discover this thread Smile
