General feedback to the MQ 8:
I tried to work with newer MQ 9 for long time.
Problem in my case using MQ 9 on Kodi/ZDMC z1000 was, that it was too slow.
If you open e.g. an overview of you playlists or open the season overview of a tv show/series the was shown nothing; only the backgound photo was shown.
I had to random click or tried with "esc" to leave the screen. After around 1 minute the view changed back to main menu. Then I went after this again
to the views the data/files was shown.
This was the behavior to all menus and sub menus.
I invested a lot of time to solve this problem e.g. switch from SMB to NFS, testing faster storage devices, several new new installs of Kodi and the MQ 9 skin.
Nothing helped on the end.
Two days ago I installed the older MQ 7 and the older MQ 8 skin.
Result: both works as it should be. The items (above described) are mostly shown directly.
The performance of MQ 8 is a little bit better. So I stay now with the MQ 8 skin.
On the end the use and view of the sub menus on MQ 7 and MQ 8 are better structured and much more family friendly in using Kodi.
Many thanks for that (old) skin.
I hope, the MQ 8 works further for a while in the future.

I have a newly installed copy of Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS, and a newly installed copy of Kodi (2:20.5+dfsg-1build2) from the default repository included with the default system. I like Aeon MQ8 so have been using it on versions of my system for years.
I can only install Aeon MQ8 Nexus mod if I disable or uninstall the Skin Helper Service add-on. Otherwise the skin doesn't install and Kodi crashes.
Having disabled or uninstalled the SHS, I run into another fatal crash if I do the following:
Settings > Skin Settings > Main Menu > Customise Main Menu > (Select a Menu name, e.g. "Empty") > Rename
Please could you help?

Hi, I've just looked at my collected installers. I have a copy of script.skin.helper.colorpicker-2.0.3.zip and script.skin.helper.colorpicker-2.0.1.zip, so I believe I tried both.
Kodi with AeonMQ8 is a priority for me as the computer is bought to be a media centre PC. As a result of not being able to get Kodi 20.5 working with AeonMQ8 Nexus Mod, I've had to revert the entire OS back to one that does work - Ubuntu 22.04LTS + Kodi 19.4 + AeonMQ8 Matrix Mod.
That said, I would really like to get this issue fixed, as I want to continue to use AeonMQ8 with Kodi on Ubuntu 24.04LTS. I feel like that's the way forward, using up-to-date software.
Is there anything that I can provide you with to replicate the issue your end? I'd be prepared to build a clean VM with only Kodi 20.5 + AeonMQ8 Nexus to try to replicate the issue if you need any logs gathered - please just let me know? Thank you.

Hello again!
I am just preparing to do the testing, and answering your questions in the process. I am still using the VM Ubuntu Kodi Nexus installation prior to doing the re-image of the system (to Ubuntu 24.04LTS) which I hope to do during by next week.
I think I do enable SYSTEM SETTINGS > ADD-ONS > UNKNOWN SOURCES as I add your repository and the Marcelveldt repository via zip file and you can't do that if UNKNOWN SOURCES is set to no.
As for UPDATE OFFICIAL ADD-ONS FROM, this is set to DEFAULT. Is it better I change this to ANY?
In terms of the Skin Helper Service 1.20.1 that you recommend, I honestly couldn't find it within ADD-ONS > INSTALL FROM REPOSITORY > MARCELVELDT'S BETA REPOSITORY (this is the one added after you install the repo from the zip file). Could you point me to it precisely/exactly please? Or I think you've hyperlinked to it (since 1.20.1 is blue, and it downloads script.skin.helper.service-master.zip from GitHub) - shall I use that? Or should I just go into ADD-ONS > MY ADD-ONS > SKIN HELPER SERVICE > VERSIONS and downrev to 1.20.1?
Also, can I please ask one more general question please - the AeonMQ8 for Nexus Mod skin is fully compatible with the Wayland protocol / display server, is that correct?
Once again, many thanks for your time and help! Sincerely appreciated.
