I've been running into this as well using Miui/Cyanogenmod, however when I use wifi tether and use the ip-address that was provided by the phone to the laptop everything works just fine. Also when using the remote, xbmc remote shows authentication errors, this only occurs when the library-functions are not available, probably related.

We have a possible fix for this. But since noone of us can reproduce the error we can't test the fix... Would someone here mind testing it?

Yet another user here experiencing this problem.

I thought it might have been just me. Running a git nightly version of xbmc on my linux box and a home built version of CM7 nightly, I thought maybe it was too esoteric of a problem for anyone else to experience.

I'd love to test any potential fixes if they're made available.

Does not work for me, can't connect using samsung galaxy s 2 as well as a galxy s running Miui. I can browse to the ip:8080 the xbmc instance runs on using the stock browser and remote mode still works.

I did the following: Launch the application, it was connected to the library from the start. I opened the movie library, and got a list of my movies. I then selected 300 from the list. After this, the application gave a "host not connected" type of error, and took me back to the first screen of the app. I pressed connect, and it connected again. I tapped movies, but immediately got a "host not connected" again.
I then quit the application, and saved the log file.

Are you both using the name instead of the IP?

Could you try using the IP? As I see it there are 2 different gingerbread bugs. 1 is that the InputStream crashes and the other one is that the dns lookup isn't working.
