Sony PS3 remote thinks it's paired
#1
Hello everyone,

I seem to have having issues with my bluetooth PS3 remote on Ubuntu 10.10.

I had the remote previously paired and working perfectly with my XBMC setup. Great remote!

The problems started when I decided to format my Ubuntu machine and start a fresh install. I had everything set up as it was before, but I couldn't pair the remote. Every time I held the START+SELECT buttons, it just sent the button commands to the Ubuntu box, it wouldn't go into pair mode. I can temporarily give the remote permission to control my Ubuntu machine through the bluetooth manager, but it asks every time the remote isn't used for a few minutes, so that's not going to work.

Is there a way I can either get the remote to forget it's paired with my machine, or get Ubuntu to force pair with it without actually pairing?

Thanks,
Oliver

Nobody willing to help out / give any advice?

It's a really good remote.. It would be a shame to waste it.

You do not pair the remote, but set up trust for the device.

You may use either kitlaan's scripts or blueman manager for it. If you use blueman, set up the remote as you would any input device.

Also, do not forget to use kitlaan's bluetooth stack and to set up scripts to drop connection when powering off or suspending.

See the PS3 thread for info.
