What am I doing wrong??

I have a bunch of movies that are contained across 2 DVD's. I have the entire DVD ripped down to my hard drive. Folder structure is like this,

Movie Name
Movie Name\Movie Name Disc 1
Movie Name\Movie Name Disc 2

The DVD's are ripped as normal vob files. In any skin I have the parent in the movie section but when I click on the main movie, Disc 1 and Disc 2 are repeated across the screen. I don't have just 2 disc displayed.

How to I get XBMC to display the two Disc's?

I think (well atleast when I used to stack files) they need to be in the same folder. I have all my media in one folder. when stacked the would be:

moviename1.avi
moviename2.avi

in your case
moviename(folder)
(inside folder)
moviename1.avi
moviename2.avi

Make sure they are named exactly the same with the exception of the number. And when scanning them into the library make sure you check scan recursively so you get what is inside the folder.

Hope this helps.

Some what but not really.. For example a bunch of my movies are Walt Disney Treasures. Each one contains two DVD's.... So I ripped each DVD. Each DVD Rip is in Audio_TS and Video_TS folder format. All XBMC NFO control files are contained in eh Video_TS folder.

How this is a better explaintion.

personally in my opinion I would make them iso files, xbmc handles them just fine. Let me do a quick search to see if i can out how to make your setup work.

I wanted to share some screen shots of what I am seeing so someone can aid me in resolving this.

XBMC Movie Library showing parent folder of movie

Image

Notice the Walt Disney Treasures DVD to the right of the image. That is the parent folder and it contains two DVD's for the Movie.

Now if I select that movie to watch either of the DVD's I get this

Image

Disc 1 and Disc 2 over and over again. And it is not picking up the tbn files that are contained in the VIDEO_TS folder of each Disc. Also I do not have anf NFO or TBN files in the parent folder. Should I?

Now as an example here is a view from another Media Based front end

The Parent folder

Image

Again the same parent. Not if I select it here is what I see

Image

I now can select either Disc 1 or Disc 2 to watch.

This is what I am trying to accomplish with XBMC. So far I have figured out a lot with XBMC but I can't seem to get this one.

If screen shots of my folder/file layout would help please let me know.

Looks like the view you are using is in wraplist mode instead of fixedlist ...

Try another view or skin ...

edit:

Let me guess ... Your skin is "Cirrus" and the view "Fanart" ?

Yepper That's the skin I'm using. I changed it to RightListView and all I have are the two Disc.

One other question, How can I get a different DVD cover to appear as the parent folder. Right now XBMC seems to be picking up the Disc 1 cover.

Thanks...
