It's probably not a bad idea to have some secondary backup available in your plans or closely monitor the health of your unRAID drives.

Good advice, no matter what you choose as a redundancy plan. There's a good reason companies have fail-over servers off-site, use RAID, and backup the systems, AND also store the backups off-site.
No plan is fail-proof. None! You can only minimize the risk.
