XBMC Constellation For iPad/iPhone by FSS.cc (unofficial remote)
Not sure, never looked, but that's because I'm a web programmer so to me it's 'common sense' (I know it's not to everyone) however, I know it's been mentioned in this thread (and a lot of others) many many times.

It's just something commonly overlooked... someone should add something to XBMC's Wiki about it Smile

Can't connect from Constellation on iPad/iPhone to PC. Firewalls off. Config in XBMC per youtube vid.

XBMC web interface NOT UP on ipad.

W7x64. Frodo 12.2. Constellation v2.8
Port set to 3333.
iPad4, iPhone 5.

Used to work fine (pre Frodo) but just changed router to Netgear DGND3700v2 and no joy.
Wireless to wireless (eg. iphone to wireless speaker) = no problem.
Wireless to wired (eg. iphone to receiver) = no problem.

Any ideas please to try and get this working again.

Your IP address is likely different if you have a new router.
check the system info tab in xbmc and check thet the IP address in the summary screen matches the address you have in constellation.
OR
Delete the computer from constellation and use the search feature to try to find the computer using the zeroconf services (provided their turned on)

Your IP address is likely different if you have a new router.

Not sure I understand your comment about the IP address - the PC has a static IP address which I understood is the same regardless of router. In anycase, System shows the correct ip address and search feature doesn't identify anything (zeroconf services is on).

The new router may not handle ZeroConf properly... if you can PM me a little more information (like brand of old router and new router) and some other details I may be able to help you.

not necessarily, my router assigns 192.168.0.* addresses and its a netgear, my friends assigns 192.168.1.* addresses and its a linksys, however, in that case, you'll need to tell us the make and model of your router

Constellation says XBMC Event server runs on port 9777 udp. if you will use this remote with wan access be sure to redirect the http, eventserver & rpc (9090tcp) ports. Should I do this and if so how ?

Jamie has a good point... I use static IP's for everything in my house (on 192.168.1.x) and recently had to change my router (changed my local internet plan). The new router by default ran from 192.168.0.x so having static IP addresses, showed all the systems being 'correct' but nothing obviously worked since they didn't connect to the router itself. The point here is you might want to check those settings anyway. I doubt it's the cause of your problem since it seems you can connect between some devices (unless they were ones without static IP's).

Now Beachnut, I'm not sure you fully understand what they are talking about here with the wan access... What they mean is say you visit your neighbors or a friend's house, etc. you can connect via normal internet to your XBMC installation and still control it. This may seem like a 'cool idea' in theory, but generally you want to try to keep your network locked down as much as possible to keep hackers, script kiddies, and other 'idiots' from targeting you (on purpose or even via random port scans). I normally advise people not to set this up (not just with Constellation but with pretty much anything) but if you have a legitimate reason of wanting this feature... (I'll even except "I know the risks, but want to do it" as legit) I'll try to help you set it up... it'd probably be easiest if we chatted over some form of instant messenger while setting it up instead of the back and forth of the forums or PM systems. (Just PM your username for whichever service you want, don't post it in the public part of the forum)

I'm glad you're back and actively replying to the community of the xbmc constellation app.
Looking forward to the next version witch will hopefully resolve the playlist issue!

Trust me, I know the disappointing feeling... I'll state again for those that didn't read far enough back, but I do NOT work for FSS (the app creators) but have been essentially their lead tech support because I like the app so much. Things regarding my health have kept me from being as active as I used to here (and the fact that I'm working on some of my own projects again) but you're right, the latest beta I have (that came after the last update in the AppStore) as far as I know still does not have a working playlist. I think the reality with that feature being overlooked isn't a 'screw you' to the users, but more of a 'we don't use that feature' so it's not as actively checked. I tried contacting Dawid again before making this point so I could at least relay some information (good or bad) but was unable to reach him.

I paid for the app (and all the extras) just like most of the users here... granted it sucks when an app 'dies' but as far as I know they still have intentions to continue adding too it, fixing things, etc. so even though I spent the money, I got great use of it (still do) and don't feel like I've been abandoned. I'm not making excuses for them, I'm not promising they even care anymore, but the beta testers do still see new versions come out on occasion which implies they didn't just 'give up'.

If your movies on your E drive are scanned into your library the same as the others, you don't need to call a special command to update that specifically since "Update Video Library" does all TV and Movie sources found in XBMC. If you check out XBMC's wiki there may be a way to update specific parts like your asking and if you can find that page and PM me a link to it, I'll create a little walk through on how to do it.

The new one that works has only folder.jpg and fanart.jpg. I guess maybe Constellation could be getting confused by the presence of both banner.jpg and folder.jpg, but some tips would be greatly appreciated before I start deleting all my tv show art files. I thought that it only looked for folder.jpg?

The folder.jpg in the problem shows are in banner format and they display correctly upon entering the tv show in Constellation. Also works in XBMC, so the files are definitely good. It's just the Constellation TV show list that shows up with almost no images displayed.

This is still a problem. Been waiting for well over a month now, as has everyone else. Yes I paid for the app and yes I posted it on your completely dead support forums.
I'll take a look at this when I get back home since I have essentially the same folder structure... I just never really used banners in Constellation except to initially test it when the added the feature (and it worked back then by grabbing banner.jpg). I haven't tried it since so it might take me a bit to fiddle around with it. I'll try to respond by tomorrow at the latest for you.

That also reminds me, the 'completely dead support forums' are hosted by me and the reason I haven't been in there to help is I had a little issue with one of the databases and it gets hammered with spam signups so much I truthfully got a little pissed and started to ignore it. I apologize for that and after I try to fix your image issue I'll get back into the forum and see if I can straighten some of that out as well.

If I'm reading this correctly, Constellation connects to your RaspberryPi no problem, but not to the Windows desktop. If that's the case in XBMC* (on Windows) go into the "Settings => Services => Webserver" and make sure that the port listed is not the same as it is on Rasp. then in "Remote Control" make sure both items are checked. Also, a good tip (not sure if it matters) make sure the "Device Name" is unique also.

Now, for a simple test, make sure XBMC is NOT running on the RaspberryPi (this is just to check the port) and IS running on your Windows system. Remove and re-add the host in Constellation for your Windows machine and see if it connects. If it does, start XBMC on the Raspberry and see if you can change between the hosts. If you have issues with any of this, you can feel free to PM me with the details and we can try to get it working.

*Note: These directions may be slightly different based on what skin you are using.

But just remember, I don't work for FSS and don't have access to the source code, so for example, the playlist feature, there's really nothing I can do about that, but I can help you troubleshoot your connection and things of that nature.

There's an annoying issue/bug that's bothering me about Wake on lan.

Wol works correctly but when you start Constelation OR when you unlock the ipad and Constelation is running it automatically wakes up the xbmc server. This sometimes is not necessary, sometimes it is annoying and sometimes it is totally unaccepted. For instance I could open constellation by mistake while I'm on another room and it will start the xbmc server in my living room which I do not want to.

Is there a setting to disable this "feature"?

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe you can change the WOL setting (via the Apple Settings app) so that it doesn't auto send it and you'd have to manually use the WOL button in Constellation when you want to use it. And even then, most buttons in the Constellation app can be turned into "Smart Buttons" (which means you have to hold the button down until it turns color fully before it sends the command... as Paul noticed above).

Glad you found it... I figured I was going to get home and realize I was wrong and have to look it up on my iPad... (Hospital waiting rooms suck)

Oh. Confused

I tried to but I don't see a reputation button ANYWHERE (I use Chrome on iPad)....I tried everything mate, searching for reputation in the help didn't help. I tried clicking on all the buttons like Quote, Find, PM. I then went into your profile to see if I could give you reputation but to no avail. I think I might have accidentally reported one of yours posts asking for your reputation to be increased by the Mods! (I am tenacious if nothing else) I guess this forum is just not very user friendly. Huh

Anyway, if anyone asks, I give you +1 reputation. Outstanding service sir! ;-)

Btw - I complained about the Playlist not working....but it does, it just does not show the queued items in the playlist, but the queue works. Big Grin
