Problems with mkv files

When I try to play mkv files it just goes to a black screen then restarts xbmc, any thoughts on how to fix this? I am running the latest version of xbmc. Thanks

pastebin xbmc.log to http://www.pastebin.com and maybe you can get help. Otherwise we have no clue which version of xbmc you are using and which version of osx you are using.

"Latest" is NOT a version. You could be "latest" release, "latest" nightly, "latest" trunk or any number of other flavors of "latest'.

I had a very similar problem, but since I have upgraded to ATV2s I can't verify if this will help you. I did have the problem you describe with a MKV movie and the ATV1 before i got the ATV2. I also had a similar problem in ATV2 and a movie that I ripped with Handbrake which would play on my MAC mini, but would abort (with no message) XBMC. Here is my suggestion:

See if "Allow Hardware Acceleration (Videotoolbox)" is selected in
System->Settings->Video->Playback. If it is selected (which it was by default in my setup with ATV2) DESELECT it (blue dot OFF).

I don't know why, but when I deselected the option the problem went away.

Best of luck

That actually made the episode play for about 20 seconds, then it buffered and went back to the menu, but that did do something.

Sorry, I am not good with computer stuff and do not know how to get a log of my problems. Can someone please tell me how to do so? Thanks

Googling is pretty easy though:

Flirc now has a forum: forum.flirc.tv

Thanks. I see where I can find the file, now, but can't ssh into my ATV2 to copy them. I used to use winscp on my dell, but now I have a mac and was told to use cyberduck and it seems that it won't connect for some reason. I also tried terminal, but it looks like you can only enter command lines in that program.
