Regarding my previous bug with some movies playing at like 85% FPS, stuttering without audio.
I found more movies doing this unfortunately, but I found what it is. It's the bitstreaming. If I turn it off for the format in question (DTS) the movie plays normally.

Does anybody have any ideas what might be happening here?

Is it possible to use LAV video with something else for the audio (e.g. ffdshow)?

EDIT: I'll fiddle with the filters section to try to get ffdshow going for the audio. Since it's bitstreaming I don't care much what takes care of it, but the video part should be LAV (since from what I can gather it has better PQ).

Ok so this was not encouraging obviously... I set ffdshow as the audio filter, but I still get the same problem. When bitstreaming for DTS is turned on the movies lag with no audio at about 20 instead of 24/25 FPS.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

UPDATE: I tried with a different splitter (Gabest), since I read that the splitter sometimes could cause similar problems. Didn't help. I even tried using ffdshow for the video but the problem persists.

UPDATE 2: I restored everything to LAV filters and pasted a debug log here if anyone can see anything weird http://pastebin.com/2K4a4meK

UPDATE 3: I was getting a bit worried that it might be my general setup, so I tried MPC-HC, using ffdshow for audio with passthrough enabled. This worked without problems, it passes through the audio correctly and the video plays normally. I have a sample file of this movie in case of interest.

I've now tried with DanielaE's patched version of XBMC and bitstreaming works there without problems. I'm finding more and more movies displaying the issue with DSPlayer.

Hi guys, i watched some tutorial, demo on youtube and i see they can play HD film with default player on xbmc (dvdplayer), but didn't work for me. When i played a movie, it come to black screen, only subtitle show, and when i come back to movie list, the current movie still show in background, but when i come back to fullscreen, still black...
I tried to use dsplayer instead, and add ffdshow filter,it's working perfect but still have some issue with me
1: Seek bar didn't work, when i tried to drag and drop, it back to the begin ( still work ok on dvdplayer)

The seekbar problem is known. Nothing you can do about it for now.

Hi Phunqe, I can confirm your findings, as I have noticed the same bug myself. It was introduced in a build last year, unfortunately I am not sure which, plus I need to use something relatively new to resolve the subtitle glitches that Tiben fixed last time he poked his head in.

For now I've also disabled DTS bitstream, as I have quite a few anime 10bit encodes, and the overall picture quality of DSPlayer is still typically better than DVD player.

It's a bit of an annoying bug, but one I can live with for now, although the 20fps bit did really confuse me when I first saw it. When you dig back through this thread you can see me commenting on it last year. Unfortunately, I'm not sure quite where the bug comes from, whether it's explictly DSPlayer, or it's some sort of conflict between DSPlayer and something else, such as recent Nvidia HDMI audio drivers. It's definately related to DSPlayer though, as I can use the same install of LAV filters, use them with MPC-HC and that will bitstream with no issues.

A while back I thought I'd resolved it by resetting my directshow codecs, but I think that was more a fluke than anything, as the error cropped up again at a later date.

Unfortunately with Tiben dissapeared again for now, it's not likely to get looked into until he or another dev pop thier heads in again.

I had to register just to tell you guys that I'm experiencing the same issues. 1080i59.97 MPEG2 video locks at 50 fps, 24p video locks at 20 fps. Disable bitstreaming and everything works.
I have tested a cocktail of different versions of LAVfilters, NVIDIA drivers and DSPlayer builds - even that reset tool which has been mentioned here.
However, if you install a fresh copy of XBMC, the problem disappears, but after a restart, it's back again.

Using mpc-hc with LAVfilters works like a charm, so I support alexrose in that there's definitely something wrong with DSPlayer.

I would go back to a earlier build. I tried the newest version and it was the first one that crashed on me. I am using a build from about 6 months ago, most everything works, with no crashing. Only problem I know about is subtitles are a little messed up on some movies. I just watch those with VLC....

I've posted this question before, but no one has answered it yet. I've got eden 11. dsplayer build installed. Everytime i use the pseudotv add on it crashes on me. Usually after i change channels. Whats strange is it only happens with dsplayer. If i use the default dvdplayer everything works fine, or if i use the eden hd audio build everything works fine. The only reason i use dsplayer is for dvxa 2, since my I3 cpu/gpu struggles with hi bitrate blurays, and cannot properly use xbmc built dvxa 2. I dont know how to post crash logs but would be willing too. Im at my wits end with this, and know somebody has to have come across this same problem.
