XBMC won't start up.

When i try to open det program i get this box.

It runs on a Lenovo T42, with Windows 7.


Any ides?

perhaps win7 can't write to the folder.. Try "run as admin" or run it with -p parameter.

on the xbmc's desktop icon, right click and "run as admin". That will give enough rights..

tried all these and i still get the same error message , i have unistalled and installed the latest nightly version and it still comes up with the error, any ideas anyone?

It's almost certainly the video driver. To confirm this we need to see a debug log.

Run XBMC then OK the error message. Now to open the debug log press Windows-R and in the Run dialog type:

"%appdata%\xbmc\xbmc.log"

(including the quotes). Click OK and the log should open in Notepad. Copy and paste the log into pastebin.com and post the link it gives you here.

Yes, it's the video driver. The key bit of the log is:

NOTICE: Found screen: Generic Non-PnP Monitor on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter, adapter 0.

The "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" is the driver installed by Windows when it can't find the proper driver for the video card. Istall the drivers from the manufacturers web site and XBMC should spring into life.
