I am having the mkv stuttering problrm as well. XBMC on Linux on a Sandy Bridge machine. It's only the mkv files and it doesn't matter 720, 1080 etc. These files are on the local hard drive so it's not a network issue. I can always fix it by hitting pause 1 to 4 times.

I've read through much of the thread but I'm not clear if there is a known solution or if we're waiting for an update? It's been doing this for a while.

I had this problem for a while and fixed it just a few minutes ago by switching deinterlace video from on to auto. Switching it off also solves the problem for me...

Mine was already set to On. Tried Off & Auto & still have the problem. I've realized though, that I have an mp4 file doing it too. They are both x264 so maybe that's it rather than the mkv that I thought.
