i've got the $20 rosewill MCE remote which works flawlessly.

i picked up the acoustic research remote that was on woot recently (i can't be the only one?) and used the "learn" feature to teach it all the buttons from my rosewill remote. works great, i couldn't be happier EXCEPT:

any button i press will only register once, then i have to press another button to press the original one again. if i want to scroll up through my movies, i press up and it moves up once. if i press up again, nothing happens. i have to press up, any other button, up, any other button, etc.

it should be noted that this appears to only be a problem with the htpc. i have the AR remote configured for my TV and receiver as well and repeated button presses work fine - volume, channels, what have you.

has anyone seen anything like this? any suggestions?

If it works with the original Rosewill handset and doesn't work with the Acoustic Research handset then the problem is with the AR handset.
