Does anyone know how to share thumbnails over the network when running webdav on lion?

My setup is as follows:
ATV2 connected to my mac running lion through MySQL using WEBDAV. When i enable WEBDAV my ATV2 sees all files perfectly, however no thumbnails are present. I know i need to add the Path Substitution setting in advancedsettings.xml however when i put "dav://[ip address]/thumbnails" in there it doesn't work. i know i can't use smb:// as the ATV2 won't support it.

So i suppose my question is: can you use path substitution with webdav and if not can you use path substitution with any other protocols like upnp for example.

I've been trying all night to see if I can get it to work myself, and sure enough it doesn't want to work. Not sure about the other protocols, or if there is a way for webDAV to work for pathsubstitution, but I'll try to ask around.

I can at least confirm that pathsubstitution is working with NFS...
