XBMC do not have a problem with that ( looks like it takes the real mapping names instead of the finder display names, the other mediamanager ( mediaelch ) seems to be doing the same.
but as i said it would be nice if you can fix something here, if not users should create in a directory a collection of symbolic links to the volumes and point your software to the parent directory ( an additional step, but at least it works :-) )
