Since you have soo many movies to scan, it might be a memory leak issue, if that's the case you should try the 'intel' version.

And if you can, try to monitor Cocoa ViMM's memory usage through 'Activity Monitor's 'Real Mem' column if you try to scan all of them from scratch again and let me know if my theory is correct.
Unfortunately I'm not sure how to fix memory leaks in my IDE, the same code generally runs fine with the exact same code in the 'Intel' version, so I can only attribute it to the Cocoa framework being still in 'beta' in my development program REALStudio.
