In the preferences window under 'General' you can choose the database language to use, which in theory should have worked for Harry Potter, but it might have picked up the title from a database that doesn't use a database language like IMDb.
You can select a home movie in ViMediaManager and select the 'Edit Metadata' button from the toolbar to write and save your own information file, though the text-editor alternative is also a valid option.
As for missing episodes, you may be able to use the episodes manager to see which episode files are 'missing' from your library which have gray icons, vs the blue labeled episodes which have files available, but there's no automatic way to see which files haven't been tagged.
