One bank of RAM or two for ND22 (intel Celeron SU2300 dual core)
#1
I currently have one 4gig module in this unit and share 512mb with the gfx card. I read in several places that its better to give this cpu 2 banks of RAM for performance reasons.

I guess 2 is better so the next question would be: return the 1x4gg and plug in 2x2gig or just buy another 4gig module (about 7$ more than 2x2gig).

Is there even a 64bit xbmc version avail that could make use of so much ram or is it generally just overkill?

Running RAM in dual channel does give a slight performance boost, but it is only noticeable in high performance computing and gaming PCs. Totally unnecessary in a HTPC.

Ok, thanks I will keep the 4gig for now then.

And you can always add another 4GB later for overkill. Smile

Actually it does make a difference for the Nvidia ION GPU that also uses the RAM. If you are having performance problems with hardware deinterlacing 1080i then using two DIMMs should make a noticeable difference.

If you don't have any problems then don't bother changing anything! Smile

Would you take a big performance hit using pc5300? i have 2 stick lying around. or dont even bother? I wanna stream 1080p via SMB to xbmc live...
