could someone please test this demo video?

Hi,

could someone please test this out for?

I am trying to play it but the picture is distorted on the train as it goes pass on the scene. it has dual audio jap and english and also very high bitrate. Im playing this on internal HDD.

hardware/software:
Windows 7 x64 with latest xmbc
gigbyte x58 ud7
6gb mushkin low timing ram
4.2 ghz overclocked intel 950 quadcore
ATi 5770 1gb

all the above is watercooled.

I get the same issue on my htpc build with on board 6310 graphics card.

PS: this play perfect using Media player classic and VLC.

I have tried disabling the aero theme still the same issue and i have also tried disabling the filters on catalyst and also changing full screen mode in XMBC.

are ATi cards no go for XMBC?

Hey mate,

I just tried this on my setup. The train is definitely not 100% clear when it moves through the screen. There are no skips / distortions anywhere else. Though if I change audio streams, it does buffer for a bit, (slight video skipping while buffering). I am streaming over wireless though.

Looks to me like its interlaced and xbmc is not de-interlacing it by default

Look at:

Image

This is a snapshot of the video. If you blow it up it's fairly clear that the blurring is a result of the way XBMC is rendering the interlacing. I'd guess XBMC is building a complete frame by combining two interlaced frames, but because the train has moved between the two interlaced frames you're getting the blurring.

Hi,

is this something that will be fixed in future releases or is there anything i can do now to fix it (beside using an external app with xmbc)?

PS: I also have a HDI Dune media player which is my main player at home at the moment that also plays this files flawlessly over the network.

This plays perfect for me. I'm using today's XBMC nightly 9/21/2011 on Ubuntu 10.10.

Hmm, I've just tried the latest Win32 nightly and the problem is still there. Having said that, the latest Win32 nightly is from 19th as the Win32 build is currently broken.

It played fine on my HTPC1. On HTPC2 however it 'sputtered' as if to speed up, play normal, speed up, play normal, speed up, play normal ...

Both are using the 9/21/2011 nightly for Ubuntu 10.10 and the same nVidia driver release (280.xx), vdpau enabled.

i will try this on the windows nightly builds.

MidnightWatcher - HTPC 2 - does this have onboard graphics? or is it the same GPU?

Thanks

PS: I have ordered a GT430 nivid chipset so will install that and disable onboard graphics hopefully it will not conflict with the Zacate motherboard.

HTPC2 (ND22) is onboard graphics (ION-based).
