I tried this skin and a couple others and I get a red box instead of a pointer icon for the mouse that says MOUSE NOT SUPPORTED, PLEASE DISCONNECT

any ideas as to why? Is it because I'm using a wireless mouse/keyboard? TIA

Disable the mouse in the settings... most skins are not designed for mouse use.

Yes, just arrows and other keys (e.g. 's' for shutdown menu, 'c' for context menu or 'm' for player controls) on your keyboard.

Most skins are designed with a remote in mind as the controller. It's not really designed to be a media player like Windows Media Player or Media Monkey. It's designed around being a 10ft interface, which like most media equipment, is controlled by a remote. Nevertheless there are a handful of skins that allow mouse support (Aeon isn't one of them), but all functions of XBMC can be handled via a keyboard as the above link shows.

If you're short of a remote, use your iPhone. XBMC Commander is a sweet app.
