Audio Problems

First, I will be posting this here because it seems to be a problem with XBMC only.

I am on a 2011 Mac Mini, OS X 10.7.1 running XBMC 10.1

The way I have this set up is Mac Mini HDMI out > TV, then TV RCA out > receiver. This allows me to have 4 HDMI devices hooked up to the tv with just one audio out to the receiver.

So anyway, on XBMC I will have some movies play just fine, audio and video, and some movies the background music will sound except for the characters speaking or any of the main sound fx. The thing is that those exact same movies sound perfect when I play them outside of XBMC on VLC player. What is it that VLC has that XBMC doesn't?

I wanted to also point out that Plex seems to play these files just fine.

Anyone?? What exactly does Plex have that takes care of this problem? Or what can I do to XBMC to make this work? It really sucks that I have to use Plex because of such a dumb issue.
