What remote controls are you using that emulates keyboard???
#1
There is a HowTo on this forum (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=54466) that talks about setting up a Logitech universal remote as a MCE Keyboard and just having it send the the appropriate keystrokes (e.g. the 'c' key = context menu) for nearly every function of XBMC.

It appears that not every old IR receiver out there will receive these keyboard signals. And, the official Microsoft remote/ir receiver seems to be very hard to find.

So, it would be a great reference if everyone who has a remote that they know can emulate a MCE keyboard would post their model of remote/IR receiver se we can know what to look for.

Thank you very much in advance.

The receivers that will work with the harmony set to "MCE keyboard" are knwo as eHome or RC6 remotes. The Wiki article http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=Remote_Control_Reviews lists all known eHome remotes.

Ahh, I had read that link already but did not make the connection that eHome receivers were synonomous with receivers that could function as a MCE Keyboard receiver.

Thanks for that tip. And thanks to the other posters who mentioned other specific options. Getting this remote issue figured is the last step in my finally having an awesome HTPC.
