I have a 2 year old and I search the web for educational items for him... this is the best I've found for animals, by far.

ARKIVE.ORG is free and they have an API... http://www.arkive.org/api/docs/


My thoughts for features...

Video Playlists
Photo Playlists
Mixed Playlists
... all Playlists user customizable by animal name, species, geography, eco-region, child age range, conservation status, etc (site indexes on these)
... and randomizing of any/all

Navigation controls
- prev, next, pause, stop, loop playlist, shuffle, etc.
- also to be used in conjunction with a touch device (pad, phone, etc) help children understand these actions, recognize the word for each action, and cause & effect.

I hope someone will volunteer to build this... it would be a great resource for our children.

I second this request. I did not know this website, but after a few click I'm convinced that it's really something for my son (and me) as well.
