Surely it would be a case of doing a software restore and jailbreaking the device again.

I did that but didn't work for me. Alpine is not he password.Is there a way i can find the password. Or an other way to put hotflicks on my apple tv2?

You could host it on a network drive and as long as XBMC is set up install the add-on from that network location?

Did it change for user:mobile or user:root ?

if you changed the password and forgot it, you are screwed and must re-jailbreak. there is no password 'reset'.
