Hi,

Just updated my final build, but will still need to configure the software at the moment i have XBMC to send all media to MPC HC which has various filters enabled and also HD audio.

but will mess about with it and see what i prefer i.e. resume play etc.

Some Pics of inside to follow - when i get them off my camera.

I cant believe how fast it boots into Windows now - like 5 sec or less.

PS: I have also tried a Nvida GT430 Graphics card and did not like it much the ATI's have better video option under settings like deinterlacing modes etc.

Nvidia = much compatibility and supports H/W Cuda/DVXA processing

ATI = Better options for Video and Support DVXA.

but for ultimate picture quality its best to use Nvidia GPU with MPC HC using MadVR plugin as it takes advantage of the CUDA cores of Nvidia cards.

any question please ask

hi,

Initially i was about to do a 12TB NAS and HTPC in one but changed my mind after using it, then i had the E35i AMD motherboard with built in GPU 6310 but could not get smooth playback then i bought a Nvidia GT430 again no smooth playback and did not like the video option available so i decided to go for the 6670 ATI, still issues as ATi are not very good a backward compatible and stuttering issues,

so i said sod this and went a bought asrock with pci 2.0 x16 speed slot and extras, 2500t i5 low power and water cooler (which was overkill) Smile

seem way faster now and now just need to configure that damn thing.

1) Get imon to display info from XMBC and MPC HC
2) test my high bitrate demos
3) map path to my Qnap nas drive
4) map path to my 2nd Pc with 8 bay nas (SMB path) i do have NFS software but apparently does not run well under windows.

then set up auto start and HD Audio to work flawlessly - cant wait for Eden.

motherboard has funny layout difficult to cable tidy

you'll soon learn to hate your LCD Screen,,,
i have one too,,,
it came built-in with my ANTEC MicroFusion350 HTPC case...
these screens are pure sh**...

un-useful, distracting, and doesnt even register itself as a eHome Driver in win7 device manager,,,
you have to rely on iMON software to map your buttons and its a real POS software,,
i have an harmony remote, and trust me,
i had to replace my room's door in the process
because mapping buttons to work with the LCD Screen is darn hard,,,

and if that wasn't enough,
forget about having XBMC working with it,,,
even tho its says it supports XBMC, it doesnt!!
thanks to a user named Montellese,
he created an app called XBMC-on-iMON,
which once setup correctly,
will enable XBMC to display stuff on iMON LCD Screen!
however, he's LCD screen died, so he doesnt use it anymore and,
his application works only under XBMC DHARMA 10....
so the XBMC 11 version thats coming real soon well,
it wont work with it so, LCD Screen will be completely useless...
we need someone thats a programmer, as im not,
which could update XBMC-on-iMON so it works with XBMC 11...
if not, were screwed...

Forget about getting MediaPLayerClassic working too,,
i doubt you'll be successful as i've never been able to do so,,,
again, no support at all from that Soundgraph company,,
their software is junk,,,

i just moved on....
only good thing about it is that i can PowerON/OFF my HTPC using my remote,,

Hi,

thanks for the advice,

i have got XBMC and MPC HC to display filename and duration using the imon software and XBMC (needed to enable the network listening port 80 under network in XBMC and also MPC HC in options -> web interface -> listen on port. In imon manager using frontview -> media information tick both XBMC and moc HC making sure the ports are the same.

I have also got config file which i use within XBMC to launch all media with MPC HC (then you can apply filters like MadVR and Lav filters for HD audio) save movie bookmarks/favorites to come back to at later stage

my other remotes options i have are as follows

1) using my android phone
unified remote (which is a remote but you can also swith on and off the PC
XBMC remote
WOL - to wake device
2) I also have logitech remote which i have not programmed into the HTPC
3) Windows Media remote + USB IR receiver which can with my motherboard
4) Logitech dinovo mini bluetooth remote, this is great and love using it (i have only tried it few times (just waiting for my new micro usb dongle to arrive) - this is perfect for Kylo web browser.

i also thought about was Matrix Orbital GX Typhoon LCD but do not know how it will work with XBMC.

i have done that many times, never worked,,,,
XBMC-on-iMON works, but for XBMC 10... not XBMC 11...

Hi,

what additional info does XMBC-on-Imon display?

maybe we can post it as project on the below site and get someone to develop it or make it work with Eden when it comes out.

when Eden comes officially out i might ask developer to get it to work with XMBC Eden using that rent a coder site.

I will let you know so i can get your feedback and and possible feature they can add but this is all depending on what price they give me.

Hi,

I have now setup my New harmony remote with the HTPC and all seem to work fine.

I can now Power on and off the HTPC with the Harmony remote (the orignal remote did not give me this option just power on) and the menu seems fine, I will test it further and let you know.

when you first install it it give you a option to select the type of remote you have, so which means its compatible with few different remotes.

I noticed that the 700 seems to have a more reactive tilt sensor and better brighter backlit (white) compared to the orange of the 650 another thing the rechargeable batteries it comes with are 2000mAh with low self discharge not sure how good they are but i also have Duracell 200mAh stay charged so any issues I will swap them over.

also on the harmony 700 box it said it can control 8 devices but everywhere else (websites) and the software its can only do 6 devices.

the remote was bought directly from Logitech.

Hi,

I'm going to replace the heatsink with Prolimatech Samuel 17 + Enermax PWM with low noise.

This is due to my current water cooled cpu cooler Antec 620 developing a fault (clicking noise) - and was OTT for a HTPC anyway Smile

a5ian300zx

PS: following up on the above after you configure the Harmoney 700, you can plug in the Harmony 650 and still have 6 Devices (even though the limit is 5) Smile

Thanks,

I have bought this one

http://www.prolimatech.com/en/products/d...157&page=1

and this fan

http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/cust...13560.html

I also have the Enermax T.B Silence PWM which i have installed in my Qnap (might swap them around - depending on noise / air flow)

PS: then reason i chose this fan is because im not going to overclock the HTPC and my CPU is a low power one.
