Currently I have an Aspire Revo 1600 and a few ATV2's running XBMC around the house. (all served by an unraid box)
They all work great for their intended purpose but I have been tossing around the idea of building a custom htpc and moving the Revo from the main tv to a bedroom.
My biggest reason for the upgrade is the Revo doesnt have the horsepower to smoothly use the 'pictures' section of XBMC. Im really into photography and have thousands of pictures and like to view them on my tv's sometimes. The revo just takes too long to render each picture when clicking through them.
Also, a more powerful cpu and the ability to bit-stream HD audio when its finalized is a big draw.
(of course cant over state the fun factor of building something new and having something new to tinker with!)

Thinking of running Openelec
Already have HP USB ir receiver and multiple harmony remotes.

That said....my intended purchase:
Hmmm...wishlist not showing up.....

Great catch Eskro....will make the change with the vid card.
Just curious about the GT 210. Will it bit stream HD audio? Your guide has the 210 in most of the builds but it says below that that none of the builds will bitstream HD unless you change the vid card to a 430 or an ati?
Is that correct or is the guide wrong?

I originally had the Apex case in my cart but after reading reviews and a long thread on Avsforum it appears the rosewill case I picked runs much cooler.

Thanks for the help....

I changed the video card to the 210 as per your suggestion.

My question was:

Ahhh ok, that changes things somewhat.
I figured openelec would bitstream hd audio once it was released by team xbmc but if its windows only I will change my build up and use windows 7...I have a hd already that I can use.

So I guess I need to change my vid card to a 430 and no need for the flash drive.
Everything else ok to order?

Thanks for the help....

If you're going to run W7 then I would go for ATI. I've heard good things about the HD 6570. Nvidia has a macroblocking issue when you FF or RW in W7.

any Radeon HD6xxx series can BitStream HD-Audio too,,
not just the GT430's...
again, refer to my guide...

pick up the INTEL G530 mini ITX build thats there
and just swap the video card so u can bitstream HD audio,,,

here are several builds for w7+xbmc+bitstreaming:

1. post #2

2. post #1. it might be the best igpu available on the market.
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!
