As my XBMC project comes together the big problem is a remote. I am running XBMC on a W7 Home Premium 64 bit PC and need a remote.

The problem is that my PC is upstairs and my flat screen is downstairs. Clearly I need an RF remote. I purchased a Snapstream Firefly remote but customizing it to work has been all but impossible.

Any suggestions?

I find this to be the biggest frustration in this whole project. What good is the concept of a HTPC if you have to be withing reach of the thing?

I've read some threads where people have used the Nuforce RF MCE remote. Supposedly it's pretty good, but I don't have any first hand experience.

I also seem to recall talk of the Harmony 900 having RF with IR repeaters. Given how well Harmony works with XBMC and every other device, I'd say this would be a real legitimate option.
