Is this RAM ok with the A6-3500? Seems like the reviewing customers used it successfully with AMD systems, but figured I'd ask here.

Patriot G series ‘Sector 5’ Edition 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model PGV38G1600ELK

one thing's for sure, if u plan on buying a slim case,
and want a 3rd party CPU cooler,
you'll have issues finding one
that would not interfear with the huge heatsink those ram sticks have,,,

personally, i'd pass if its your case,,,

So no with the MI-008? Should I be using a 3rd party CPU cooler with a A6-3500 build?

definitely a bad choice for the MI-008 case...
buy something like Kingston HyperX or Corsair XMS3...

the use of a cooler is always a good idea, mainly for noise..
stock amd coolers are all noisy,, at least to me,,

You might have more room to install aftermarket CPU cooler in this case- SILVERSTONE Black Aluminum Grandia Series GD05B.
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

stock A6-3500 coolers fits tight but fits in the MI-008.
if u want the MI-008 + a new CPU cooler,
just get the SCYTHE KOZUTI cooler...
user named voip-ninja bought it for his MI-008 case and it fits!
again, tight! but fits!

Great looking case, but I'm not sure I can justify it over the MI-008 w/ PSU for only $35 shipped. Otherwise, I'm starting to prefer a micro-ATX case.

I believe 4 GB RAM will be enough, but 8 GB for $20 AR seemed hard to pass up.

I've only built with full size cases, and this is the first time I'm worrying about noise, so I'm yielding to more experienced opinions, and I'll look at other RAM.

I just built this exact HTPC and the CPU fan in my opinion is extremely loud. Is the Scythe SCKZT-1000 80mm Kozuti CPU Cooler the only/best option?

PS. Thank you eskro for the guide.

well. there's 4 choices...

#1. reduce the CPU fan speed using the BIOS or an app called SpeedFAN or fan controller

#2. buy the SCYTHE KOZUTI SCKZT-1000

#3. if u dont need an Optical Drive, u might get away with this http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=119138

#4. remove the PSU, buy an external PicoPSU and buy another cpu cooler

Sometime, all you need is a software update from your motherboard. You might want to visit your motherboard website- AsRock A75M-ITX. You should be able to find all kid of updates in download section.
